It's no surprise that since they borked everything, updates and new content has been thin on the ground. It'll not get the support it needs if it's not bringing in any cash.
Like I said, the game itself doesn't deserve to die, just the way it's been treated since before launch.
The game deserves
much better than the appalling treatment that EA gave it. While it's still not quite what I want from Battlefront II (especially given the mods on the 2005 version), there is a lot of potential and it does a great job of making you feel like you're in a huge battle from the movies. Speaking of which, where the hell is the Death Star DLC from the first game? I played that pretty much exclusively once it was out.
It's a shame that EA couldn't look at Overwatch or Counter-Strike to make money from cosmetics instead of trying to sell a pay to play game for $60. While those titles have their own infamy around loot boxes, at least they didn't give those with the biggest wallets a cutting edge in gameplay. I have to say, I enjoy it a lot more now that I've unlocked weapons that I can use effectively than I did at the start. My heroes are still not well equipped so they get slaughtered while other players decimate the action with theirs.
