I think in reality, "gain access" means play a demo, or small portion of the game, then pay a slightly reduced price to "unlock" the full game, there's simply no way it could be what is being portrayed now. When you look at how many copies EA sells of Fifa, battlefield etc, they would basically be saying they don't want money anymore by doing this, and the install base would have to be significantly higher, perhaps by 100x, to make the possibility of gaining enough new subscribers who wouldn't originally have touched an EA game plausible.

I think the idea is that brand new games aren't available straight away on the service. So you have to fork out if you want, say, Fifa 15 on day one. If you're happy to play four or five months down the line then you can via the subscription.

I guess we'll see then, but if that's the case I can see it being a big flop. The kind of people willing to subscribe to play Fifa/Battlefield all year long are the kind of people who will want to be playing it when it's released, the more casual players happy to wait 6 months would most likely be happy paying a 1 month fee then moving on. In my opinion anyway. Still, even if that's the case, there will be a catch, this is EA.

Sounds like a great deal but you have to be a little skeptical when it's cheaper than Battlefield Premium.

Good to see that PS Plus is starting to influence developers.

The lack of Titanfall should have made it clear that they're not aiming for supplying particularly new releases.
Not necessarily bad, though, it might still save people money. Like, if I didn't have time to play DA:I when it comes out, or if BF Hardline is pants and everyone keeps on with BF4, stuff like that.

If you’re an EA Access member, you can download upcoming EA games five days before the release date to play for a limited time. Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are all included, with more to come. If you love it, buy it, and you can pick up right where you left off.

That to me suggests that no new games will be part of the vault.

It does sound promising, especially for those who loves EA's sports games.

Like Sony's PS Now, I would wait and see what kind of content there will be. How frequent will there be any additions? The only thing that worries me is that EA loves shutting down game servers a bit earlier than most of other publishers.

I'll wait and see the feedback while the actual product is released.

I have a beta code, just grabbed the app now. Shame I have 3 of the games. Though I have BF4 on PS4, so I'll grab that anyway.

No way this is staying Xbox One exclusive if it's successful. Great price structure at the moment but waiting for the catch

How did you get the beta code? Oh and just a quick question, can you pin the vault games to your home screen or do you have to go through the app?

I had a beta key as I'm part of the Xbox one Beta program. So, I guess luck, if other's who are also part of the program didn't. Not sure about if you can pin vault game, as the 2 I'm grabbing (BF4 and Madden) are downloading. I would assume so, though.... Just tried pinning BF4 and it did pin.

Cunning way for EA to effectively attempt to kill second-hand sales of older 'vault' titles whilst offering incentives for DLC and day-one purchases (also means it's much closer to their 'games as a service' goal). It's also been noted in their T's and C's for this that they'll still be switching off old online servers etc when they deem in unprofitable to sustain.

Wonder how this will affect GAME/Gamestop etc once it eventually goes multi-platform.

Yes, because being sceptical of EA's business practices is entirely unreasonable

Bitch Please.

Dave DS reckons it gonna be a 'Flop' and Deludi has only looked at the negative side 'No more EA Games with Gold for Xbox Live, 'When it comes on PS4 (despite no evidence of this)'.

All we need is Nick in here to spin it in a bad way and the holy trinity is complete.

Yeah this won't be coming to PS4
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect,” a Sony representative told us via email. “PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200% since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”

Wrong call Sony :dread:

Surely it represents MORE value for 'sony customers' what an odd thing to say.

I don't know if it is. If they let EA do it they may end up with about 5 or 6 different ones from different publishers.

Time will tell, I suppose.

I can't see how it makes sense for EA to offer you 4 games which each cost about £50 for £20 a year. Two of those games (FIFA and BF4 probably already have a pretty high crossover rate).

Where's that quote from Suzzopher?

I guess the thinking is that one subscription to PS+ should be enough, and (most?) gamers don't want to pay for another one.

Worryingly, subscription based services for everything seems to be the future.

Yes?
