So basically, if Anthem tanks EA is done.

EDIT: I suppose they have their sports line-up. So rather, if Anthem tanks original IPs from EA are done.

Disney need to take the Star Wars license away from EA. They have made two games since getting the license and the second game damaged the brand somewhat.

A making of Star Wars Republic Commando video popped up on my YouTube feed at the weekend after I watched that interview with the lead of Dead Space (never played it) and it got me thinking why didn't Visceral make a Republic Commando sequel or something in that vein :fp:

A Star Wars first person co-operative squad horror shooter could have been something really unique and the Star Wars name could probably have helped it sell better than Dead Space. They could have implemented a "director" style system like Left4Dead to keep each co-op run slightly different without having to generate entire new levels.

Hopefully not for EA Originals, I really enjoyed A Way Out, Fe has some things going for it even if it didn't end up particularly memorable for me, and I mean to play Unravel (2) at some point.

I hope they still make Need for Speed games. I like 'em... yes, even the more recent ones!

I used to buy every NfS until they put out that Carbon buggy mess which they never fixed.

Looks like Anthem pre-orders are reduced at a few places (£33 at Shopto with DLC). Sales must be lower than expected.

They really do.

All the good Star wars games have sold really well and are well regarded generations later.

An open world game would have been quite interesting if done well.
I don't know how they keep getting Star wars games wrong :(

Anthem seems to be getting some positive buzz lately, particularly from the announcement that they'll have matchmaking for all activities, so already an advantage over Destiny.

Imagine spending so much time on something and then realising it was a complete waste, apart from the money. Must be awful.

I wouldn't be surprised if a huge part of the cancellation was that they couldn't find a suitable way to monetise it without worrying about the Battlefront 2 fallout.

They have unrealistic expectations. They want every online game to be making Fifa money. They toned down the loot boxes now. The female soldiers in BF was just a PR stunt from them to say look at us we not out of touch.

I hope MS can buy BioWare and their IPs. EA like others have said will probably close them if it tanks. The games already being discounted by shopto and simplygames, so preorders might be really low.

Even their prized asset Fifa in terms of gameplay is getting worse every year. The UT bubble will eventually fade.

They lost a lot of key figures in the last few years. I always felt when they were being voted worst company in America last gen it was harsh. They actually tried hard to make different variety of games last gen. Pushed new IPs like Dead Space, Skate and Mirrors Edge. Even Fifa last gen in terms of gameplay was probably the best football game.

I’ll always be grateful for dead space.

The first one was eye-opening - a much better take on re4 than gears.

3 went downhill fast, with its human enemies and microtransactions.

2, however, was amazing. One of my all time best games.

Last gen I bought a load of EA games, the Mass Effect series (both on PS3 and 360), several FIFAs (due to PES being broke for 5 iterations), Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, C&C...

I haven't bought a single one of their games this generation, they strawberry floated up Mass Effect, PES became playable again, Dead Space became dead and the rest of their IPs have been wasted.

Surely they could just copy the GTA Online formula? Large, expansive open world, lots of love and detail, lengthy story etc, but the long-term focus (aside from singleplayer bug fixing) is the online gubbinz.

It's times like these where I wonder what would have happened had Disney restructured LucasArts like they did LucasFilm instead of shuttering them. We could probably have seen First Assault, which would have led to a Battlefront 3, and possibly even a Battlefront 4 - very possibly on Nintendo hardware. We'd have got 1313, the Maul game would possibly have been revived, and there would be exciting possibilities for the future of the brand in video gaming.

Instead we sit here with two Battlefront games and an uncertain future about whether the games beyond Jedi: Fallen Order will even see the light of day before Star Wars videogames are gone for good. Or go mobile only, and even that probably won't last forever.

Yeah, it's jumping to the worst, but at least back then there was always something to look forward to. I just hope this coming Celebration gives us some good news concerning games.

I miss the days when EA actually release interesting and great games.

I wish Disney takes the Star Wars License away from them and give it to Ubisoft.

Ubisoft? Give it to Rebellion, they already proved themselves with the PSP Battlefronts

A console quality Battlefront made by Rebellion? I would take that in an instant. I still sometimes boot Elite Squadron on the PSV [shame Renegade was never allowed to play on it] just for the experience of whacking droids on the head with a force pike. Oh, and Cato Neimoidia.
