EA  :fp:

I don't really know or care about Amy Hennig, but it's always a shame to see a talented studio shut down - Dead Space and Future Cop LAPD being particular highlights from . It can never be a surprise with EA though; money first, everything else second, and they seem to strawberry floating love buying - and then shutting down - renowned developers. Hopefully the staff can get relocated.

Almost like a Star Wars-themed F-Zero GX.

In monkey's paw fashion that would happen but it would have pay to win lootboxes with objectively better podracer parts etc.

Similar to the ND's sexual harassment statement, this has gone down like a bag of dicks at a WI cake-a-thon. When you've got acclaimed director and noted Bowie-spawn Duncan Jones trolling you, you know you done strawberry floated up

Wonder how long it’ll be till Bioware are on the chopping block.

True, but at a guess it'll be the wider public that keep buying EA's games in droves. They see the pretty adverts, buy the game in question with season passes etc, then trade it in less than a few weeks later only to repeat the process with EA's next release.

With any luck the whole of the AAA industry will implode.

This is upsetting and frustrating. I want singleplayer star wars. The only real reason I'm interested in Battlefront 2 is for the campaign.

Brerlappin wrote:That's tragic. Especially because at least to me, I think most people actually just want good Single Player experiences in the Star Wars universe. They want to feel like theyre IN a SW movie, which is difficult to experience when youre getting teabagged by someone with better star cards than you and typing GG EZ every time you get annihilated by them. Theres a reason games like KOTOR are held in such high regard, PRO TIP: its not because of their online multiplayer components

I guess the mindset with multiplayer, online focused games is that they have a shelf life and are therefore more likely to be purchased at launch for full price.

They're probably out on the next strike I imagine.

I give them one more underperforming game, though I suspect Andromeda may have been the last straw for EA.

Well we're never getting another Dead Space game. I actually quite enjoyed the trilogy although the 3rd game was definitely not as good.

Do current gen racing titles have loot boxes yet? If not, there may yet be hope. :simper:

:(

Part of me wonders if the "new direction" for this Star Wars game might send it into PUBG territory. Online, microtransactions, but no progression system.

Are you implying EA would pull the rug out from under a well-regarded developer to do a handbrake turn towards the current hot ticket genre/game style? Preposterous.

One more flop and they're for the pit. (I'm assuming DA:I did well but ME:A did not.)

I suspect people may be a little too hard on EA. *dodges rotten vegetables* There is a lot a of churn in games development because the industry evolves so fast, so studios are constantly being created and destroyed anyway.

From my observations one of the prime reasons why a studio goes down in quality is because the talent that made it great to start with has left and gone onto other things (Maxis was great, Maxis minus Will Wright was a pile of gooseberry fool). The entire company is generally structured around their artistic vision and removing it is like ripping out an organ. Generally that happens when they sell out to larger companies like EA, so it's small wonder so many of them go downhill soon after.

EA has the problem in that it cares about acquiring IP and not talent. They would produce better content if they focused on recruiting talented individuals and developing creative teams around them.
