First time someone told me not to play a game

Not saying not to play it, just temper your expectations if you want something more akin to a 2D Zelda game. As I’ve said I’m very early doors in it and outside of a couple of small things it’s not screaming Zelda to me.

Just got to the surface, really started to feel like it was hitting its stride towards the end of chapter 1 so I’m hoping for more of the same from now on.

This feels much more like a handheld game than docked one too, it doesn’t look bad on my TV but think it’s overall a better experience playing it undocked, the HD rumble is fantastic too, the way the train felt passing over sections of the tracks was uncanny!

Told you. :D I think the game definitely hits its stride once you get out of the caves. The colour palette improves, for one thing.

Yeah the colour palette is gorgeous in my opinion, first area looks really nice transitioning from day to dusk, then to night and back to day. Off to find some escaped animals when I’m next on this anyway

I've only had three game overs so far. Two were in that segment. :x

I had about 3 or 4 in that (well I think it’ll be the same segment) as well, kept forgetting to do one of the sections in the right order :shifty:

I'm now on chapter... 6 maybe? The one with the monkeys. Anyway, it seems like a complete pacing killer and an utter waste of time. Like something put in by some would-be auteur and nobody on the staff had the gumption to tell him (it is invariably a bloke) not to.

Ok there are definitely some Zelda vibes in this game

I still get the Earthbound vibe from it rather than Zelda, there’s a couple of nods to Zelda in there (getting extra hearts after boss fights/finding 3 upgrades, getting given new items to solves puzzles) but nothing over the top in my opinion. Hope you’re enjoying it anyway, I’m hoping to make a start on chapter 3 this evening.

Welp, I've finished it. All feels a bit Blade Runner at the end. One thing I will say is, don't expect everything to be nicely tied up in a little bow. Eastward likes to keep some things to your interpretation - quite a lot of things in fact. Definitely wouldn't mind it being tied up a bit more. Or, er, a lot more.

Still. The MIASMA is eradicated, so there's that. Oh, and they finally show the relevance of the three-headed dragon in the title screen - which is good because without that I'm not sure there's any foreshadowing at all. Somebody tell me I'm wrong. (When you're done I guess.)

Oh, and chapter 6 is a load of pointless toss.

Having got restarted on AC Brotherhood I’m now sure if I’ll get this finished before Dread either  From what I’ve played this isn’t the kind of game to play in a handful of sessions, one of those where I’m happy to do an hour every now and then, the auto save feature is quite generous so you’re not far (if at all) from where you left off previously.

As I suspect a holdover from other older games I only ever considered quitting at fridges.
