They come right out and say its worse than Wii Sports...which is quite frankly ridiculous.

I could understand a 7 from Edge, a technical update and expansion of the ideas in the original could only be worth the same as the original, I could understand that point of view (even if I didn't agree with it).

But there is stuff in the review that can't be explained away, quite how they came to the conclusion that some information boxes reminding people to take a break means that the game is controlling and solemn about how much fun it wants you to have, I don't know, its just a silly thing to say. Its a bit of a shoddy review really.

Is Wii Sports the game against which this should be judged? It is 3 years later and better games have been and gone. I would argue in video games terms that sequels need to be better than the originals just to stay the same in terms of score. The riposte here is that Resort is better, so why not a 7. But in a way, if Resort has failed to address some key issues with Sports, such as longevity and the sense that it remains a mini-game compilation, perhaps Edge do not consider it a big enough evolution for the score to stay still.

But thats not the point. They say in the review that they think the original is better....

Just to add ...

My son gave it a [10].

I could not give a rats arse what any single magazine critic gives a game. Edge have been wrong plenty of times in my eyes in the past, and this is another occasion. The mag is a good read, but it is only one critic.

Some people hate Woody Allen films. I have never understood that either seeing as Manhattan is my favourite film of all time, but it is down to taste. Why can't games and personal taste be the same?

Me and my 3 year old son, on a tandem, wining a race = one of the best gaming moments I've ever had.

Nintendo should bundle the game with a young child to ensure everybody gets the optimal experience.

Nothing to do with me. I liked WSR, to the tune of 85%.

Hey, how can I be expected to contribute when I'm so busy writing contradictory reviews for Edge?

But apologies, I'll try and be a bit more productive...

Ah I was just wanted to see if you were lurking Matthew! :P
Loved your writing in NGamer, but I switched my subscription to EDGE after I started playing my wii less. Do you write at all for EDGE?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:
