Another good Race Pro score, I'll probably pre-order a copy now. I'm actually quite chuffed with the K2 review, a [9] would've had me scrambling around for the cash to buy a PS3.

Look at the KZ2 thread - I'm certainly no fanboy of the product, yet when a game's getting 9+ across the boards, and suddenly this big-headed mag comes in with a 7 - It doesn't add up.

Of course you'll put your spin on it - how it's justified etc, but who's to say that they haven't got it wrong yet again? You narrow-mindlessly look towards ME's 7, this is even more wrong.

Back to the subject of the magazine, PsychoPriest missed out that there is a new 'Region Specific' section (which is why the magazine is thicker than usual) on the Nordic Territories.

I am sorry but I agree with Cropolite, I bought my last issue of Edge forever.

 :fp:

On one hand, from what I've pllayed of the demo this seems like a 7 game to me. One the other hand it coud just be the usual "Edge proving a point by scoring lower than everyone else" score.

I think people need to remember this is the same score they gave Fallout 3(as well as many other brilliant games deserving of a higher score), and loads of people here put that down as their game of last year. Just because Edge don't like a game doesn't make it gooseberry fool/average etc. It's just one mans opinion.

Its now getting beyond a joke, their scores are way off, how could they give GTA4 a 10, but the Halo 3 10 just pisses me off even more now.

I have a friend who basically lets Edge scores deside on his purchases :fp:

Really surprised at them giving Hotd: Overkill an 8.

I bet it took a lot of drink to hold back the tears caused by giving Halo Wars a 7.

Magazine's critic reviews two games, prefers one t'other due to fun etc, writes and scores appropriately. It's not a joke, it's called not succumbing to the hype (er, again :shifty: ). And maybe, you know, maybe they actually liked Halo 3 and GTA IV to the extent they'd give them perfect scores? Hardly a joke, just because your view doesn't align perfectly with theirs doesn't mean they're somehow way off balance.

lol Mafro well youve seen what i think

EDGE are just an irritating anally retentive mag that just love themselves a bit to much and if people read their review and see a score and think im not buying this because EDGE gave it a 7 then your probably a bit retarded .

Best to take numerous factors into account when deciding a game purchase - reviews from places you trust, the demo, impressions from friends and/or acquaintances, your own levels of interest in the game/concept etc. Using one medium as your decision-maker is kinda dumb.

Yes it does, they're all mental and use a 10 sided dice to decide on scores, I hate them all.

They gave Fallout 3 a 7 when almost every review I read gave it at least a 9. I did have a supicion that EDGE wouldn't score KZ2 as highly as everyone else. The Games TM score will be interesting - I reckon it will get a 9/10.

Having played the Demo I'm a little suprised by the Fear 2 score, although, tbh Demo's can be a poor indication of the quality of the finished game.

Shame there was no Empire TW / DOW2 reviews :(

Where does Edge recently awarding Little Big Planet a 10 fit in with all of these conspiracy theories?

Except a 7 is neither **** or average in Edge.

This is what people continue to just plain ignore. A 7 in Edge is a very good score. It is in fact a pretty high recommendation and would translate into at least an 8/high 80s score in just about any other publication you'd care to name. Just because they all skew their scoring systems to make sure most good games score in the 90s doesn't mean you should judge what Edge gives out on the same basis.

Thats not putting a spin on it, thats just how it is. I would have thought some of you might have caught on by now...but obviously not.

You really don't understand the process of game reviewing at all. You may proclaim yourself not to be a "fanboy of the product" but your comment is so reactionary, it's unbelievable.

That being said:

Killzone 2 - 7
House of the Dead: Overkill - 8
Let's Tap - 8

This is crazy-unusual for Edge, the po-faced kings. Can it be that the reviewing policy of the magazine has changed to score... fun? :o

(Alternatively, the Wii's tech specs could have lead to games being assessed in a different way, which would be fair enough I suppose.)

As for FEAR 2, so far the full game's gunplay is more fun and feels nicer than Killzone 2's, but bear in mind that I've only played the demo of the latter game so I'm not going to say "x is better than y" until I've properly assessed both.
