Yes, because religion has never been satirized in any TV show ever.

Wow you are coming over a bit rude.

I guess I am remembering all the reasons given for the Golden Compass flopping, but I guess that is also going to be a TV show now too, so maybe it will be different

But it will be interesting as to how they play it though as Eisenhorn is a straight/serious book, and well a lot of the world building in 40k (especially the religious aspect) is utterly bonkers. I think a lot of the more recent lore is more grounded, but it is still built on some pretty out there ideas

Sorry, it wasn't intended as such. Just mild sarcasm. :-)

I doubt the mainstream news outlets/religious groups will pick up on it compared to things like Good Omens etc as despite its enormity 40k is still under the radar of a lot of people, the nuances of its satire under the power armour and lasers even more so.

Considering how niche 40K inherently is, I'm not sure anyone who could be offended would take the time to watch the show, let alone pay enough attention to it notice its satire of the catholic church

The Golden Compass flopped because it was a poor movie.

From what I remember they took out all of the anti-religion messages from the movie because they were scared of how the American market would react. Hopefully the TV show keeps them all in.

I don't understand why some Americans are so sensitive about the topic.
I remember Fox News getting really, really upset that on London busses (not even in the US) had a slogan that said "There is no God!" and going on about how they somehow most likely paid for those busses though US taxes because the US lent the UK some money after WW2 which we recently finished paying back.

My point would be if a simple message like that on a bus is enough to question your religion then maybe just maybe that faith wasn't all that strong.

They won't watch it, they won't understand it, but they will broadcast their offense across the internet and encourage boycotts etc.
