OrangeRKN wrote:Reading the article it seems more like Labour's fault for refusing to participate, and instead they deliberately want to spin it as the Greens and Lib Dems siding with the tories rather than the intention of dividing committee chairs by vote share across all parties.

The three political parties said they tried to secure a four party agreement for chairing committees based around the proportion of seats each group has on the London Assembly.

Their plan would have allowed Labour to chair five committees, the Conservatives four, Greens one and the Liberal Democrats one in the first year of this administration.

Good one, you complete and utter bunch of fuckfaces.

Has there ever been a more strategically inept opposition than Labour since 2019?

If it wasn't obviously such a ridiculous tin foil hat, the truth is out there, Nessie is real style conspiracy nut thing to believe I could almost convince myself that the last decade has seen the Tories infiltrate the Labour party in some way to steer them into making ever more ridiculous mistakes. :fp:

Didn't you know? Nessie IS real, and he said UFO's abducted him on 9/11 so he could see the US government demolishing the towers because of an infestation of Gremlins which had taken over the buildings.

Basically Labour traded being the largest party right now in the assembly (in London, where they have the mayor) to try and score some points in the next election in four years time. They completely strawberry floated it.

I can imagine if this was ever suggested at a Tory party meeting it would be immediately shot down because "Labour are doing a better job of it than we ever could'

Nessie was cleared of those charges

Batley and Spen By-election will take place on Thursday 1st July. Days after the final lockdown stage ends (or is meant to) and in the middle of the Euros. I thought it seemed an unusual time for it but this probably explains why:

Also, Batley and Spen constituency is the home to Batley Grammar School where a teacher is still in hiding due to death threats from using an image of Muhammed in a lesson. Wonder if that will be a local issue that sways voters.

I'd forgotten George Galloway was still in politics. Thought he was happy on Russia Today. He's actually running in the Batley and Spen By-election and more than likely will get many hundreds or even a few thousand votes which might be all that is needed for the constituency to go Tory.

If Keir loses, I think he survives it but the pressure to go will be huge.
