Is the red pill a birth control reference then? I assumed it was some sort of trump support.

Red pilling is used by "men's rights activists", fedora-wearing misogynists, and the alt-right to describe the moment they "realised" gender roles within society are apparently a construct to solely benefit women.

It is a term used by the worst kind of people on the internet.

EDIT - Oh you mean why is Musk using it? I guess because he is popular among those worst kind of people on the internet maybe?

So "the red pill" is a reference to that bit in the Matrix where you, like, take the pill to choose to see the world how it really is.

Creepy angry internet men appropriate the term "the red pill" for, basically, accepting the "reality" (ugh) that all women are bitches / sluts / etc. They believe in "alpha males" and "treating 'em mean" and idolise various "pick-up artists" who invariably turn out to be rapists and so on. Their belief system gets more intricate (and more crazy) the deeper you dig but you get the idea.

There are a couple of possibilities as to why Elon Musk is tweeting it. He might genuinely think the above, or he might be seeking approval from his terrible fans who think the above. I feel like it's probably the former as he is a massive shitbag.

Amusingly, a common interpretation of The Matrix is as an allegory for being trans (both its creators transitioned) and that the red pill actually represents oestrogen therapy. Anyway, that's part of why it's so funny that Lilly Wachowski (one of those creators) openly told him to strawberry float off. She must be sick of her work being referenced in that way!

May be of interest to you, buddy. Maggie Mae Fish has a good Youtube channel with some film analysis, and in particular has one vid that really impressed me with applying a trans reading to Robocop. Yes, I am serious. No, it is not at all a pisstake.

I had no idea the red pill thing was as specific as that. I'd always assumed it was just some sort of general 'wake up sheeple' type of thing. Take the red pill and finally realise you're being controlled by the government/media/Jews/liberal elite/my little pony/whatever the bellend posting it hates at the time.

It’s idiocy of the highest order and anyone who even tacitly associates with it should be ashamed of themselves.

Essay question (40 marks): Does Elon Musk have a concept of shame? Explore possible reasons why not (beyond ‘he’s very rich’).

There is a huge crossover between the aforementioned creepy angry internet men and the far/alt-right, so it all gets kind of mixed up together. It's definitely also used in the context of having a political "awakening" (lol) in which you "realise" that the SJWs are secretly putting chemicals in the taps to turn you into a girly beta twink, or whatever.

When it comes to the red pill it's a bit of both. The fedora-wearing misogynists have their red pill which seems to be the dominant force in the use of the term. But it's used by Flat Earthers, 9/11 Truthers and other assorted conspiracy theory sub groups to refer to their own flavour of crazy. Although of course it doesn't help that those groups have a massive crossover with MRA stuff.

I think Musk is using it to talk about some kind of Covid thing not a MRA issue, but could be wrong.

Also most MRA's hate pick up artists as they seem them as frauds.

strawberry floating hell, just goes to show you've got to be careful what you say. Legit would just assume someone saying about red and blue pills was just a matrix reference.

You can still take the red pill, but you have to space out the dosages.

Elon has doubled down on backing West for president.

https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-mu ... ent-2020-7

Elon Musk still supports Kanye West's bid for the presidency, but he thinks West would be better off in the 2024 election.

Musk told Page Six's Mara Siegler that he still backs West, despite a deleted tweet in which he appeared to waver in his support. West participated in a Q&A with Forbes last week in which he called vaccines "the mark of the beast" and said Planned Parenthood was placed in cities by white supremacists to "do the Devil's work." After the piece was published, Musk tweeted — then deleted — that he and West "may have more differences of opinion than I anticipated."
