Apparently a UK based business man is planning to start a sports event with no drug testing.

Critics say its “dangerous and irresponsible," but organisers claim it is “morally correct” and "is going to be great television.”

That's the debate surrounding The Enhanced Games, a rival to the Olympics with one significant difference.

Instead of strict drug testing, athletes will be allowed to dope as they please.

It is the brainchild of London-based businessman Aron D’Souza, who says his sporting event “will obliterate all the world records” by “unlocking human potential.”

I for one welcome our glorious future where steroids will be mandatory.

“will obliterate all the world records” by “unlocking human potential.” Yep you will see people run the super fast mile but you'll possibly see them collapse and stroke out after it, sounds like the kind of TV our BGT fans in the UK will absolutely love.

I think they are vastly overestimating the performance enhancing capabilities of drugs. They obviously improve performance if used by the greatest athletes on the planet, but there's zero chance drugs will enable the average person to break world records.

Yep. They will still need top athletes to take part...which feels unlikely as if you're stupid enough to enter this you're ending your career. Maybe they'll get some people at the end of their career who know they aren't gonna win big I don't know.

I think it could be kind of cool, as long as it was done safely.

The Javelin would be epic.

Steeple chase on shrooms. Olympic dancing on E would worth a watch as well.

strawberry float performance enhancing drugs. I want Bez off his face with a tambourine dancing for the UK.

"No drug testing" surely rules that out, can't ensure safe usage without having rules and limits that are enforced.

Yeah, guess so. Not opposed to "enhanced olympics" in principle though as long as it doesn't kill anyone. (Or at least, like, no more people than the normal olympics does -- I guess high level sports is inherently a bit dangerous!)

Geezer's making out like EPO is Compound V. Oh wow, someone's juiced to shave a tenth off a WR, big woop. As it is they can't sell out watching clean athletes going for WRs in the Diamond League, so where he thinks the audience is for this I don't know.

If doping/enhancement actually made you superhuman, then I'd watch that!

Most powerlifting tournaments essentially already have no restrictions on what you can take: AAS, HGH, EPO, IGF-1, SARMs are all fine. No one can come close to squatting / benching / deadlifting these kind of weights without being juiced up to the eyeballs and no-one cares about the niche version (drugs tested) of the sport.

And some sports are officially drug tested but EPO usage is pretty much assumed as necessary to win (long distance cycling). And a surprising amount of cardio intensive sports have athletes that are "asthmatic" & so qualify for therapeutic use exemptions on asthma inhalers so the drug tested versions of sports aren't necessarily catching all the cheaters.

The issues are that unless the money on offer is huge, anyone signing up effectively guarantees a lifetime ban in the drug-tested version of the sport (and likely shunned by corporate sponsors) so it's not going to obtain the 0.1% top athletes aged 18 to 30 but the ones who weren't good enough to qualify. Or recently retired formerly top 0.1% athletes. That's interesting in a sense as you can see if PEDs turn a top 1% athlete into surpassing the 0.1% / breaking world records but the whole marketing is to see how fat

And potentially legal issues, the risk of concussions and long term brain damage (even from something like heading a football) from some sports is already considered high risk, would legal disclaimers actually be worth anything in when someone gets an exceptionally traumatic injury from a steroid enhanced athlete?

I don't know, you might get some who are always going out in semi-finals at Olympics/World Championships. 9th fastest in the world but no-one cares
