When they wrote part 1 of Best of both Worlds they didn't actually write it with any consideration for how Part 2 was going to go and they had no idea what they would do. At that point several contracts were still being negotiated too and it wasn't certain that some of the cast, in particular Patrick Stewart, would return as some of the contract negotiations weren't going too smoothly.

For the Wolf 359 scene they basically brought in a bunch of people working on the show, gave them access to the various model kit parts and told them to go nuts
The crew even got to name their creations with ship and class names.

The explosion of the cube was also a practical effect and it exploded with enough force to embed parts into the studio walls :slol:

Every single time they mention Wolf 359, I think "Betelgeuse".

Thanks Blur

Oh god yeah, DS9 has some weak and just straight up boring episodes in the first 2 seasons especially. Don't get me wrong, there's some really good episodes in there too, but some are just outright dull. Season 3 makes improvements before the show truly hits its stride from Season 4 onwards.

DS9 never gets Code of Honour bad though thankfully :dread:

At least Code of Honour had controversy to make it interesting. ;)

Possibly the worst part at the time about the Best of Both Worlds cliffhanger was that it would have taken people totally by surprise. Star Trek had never done cliffhanger (or even two part) season finales before, so watching it live the audience would have been fully expecting it all to be wrapped up the end of the episode :slol:

Only a matter of time before they put all the Trek on that new platform.

I would expect things to start moving over once existing deals begin expiring.

When that will be though is anyones guess.

I just saw an advert that Channel 5 are also getting Halo and are airing the first episode on Terrestrial TV tomorrow, the same day Paramount+ launches in the UK to actually watch it.
I'm kind of surprised Paramount would license out one of their streaming service's flagship shows to a Terrestrial channel that will air it the same day it becomes available on their own platform.

It's only episode 1 IIRC

I think Paramount actually own Channel 5 these days, so they win either way. Means they can try and push viewers to the app to get caught up.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense. The advert seemed to imply they were airing the whole series.

I've got to wait until tomorrow since my subscription will be through Sky.

Almost at the half-way point with TNG! Seems like only last week we were suffering through season 1. :dread:

How you getting on with DS9 Moggy?

I need to post my thoughts from the last couple of weeks, will get those up some time tomorrow.

I always feel like Remember Me has a slightly bad reputation amongst the general fan community but I really like it (despite the space Jesus Wesley shite :dread: )

Remember Me

Really enjoyed this one. It kept me guessing for a while as to whether Dr Crusher was going mad.

And of course it was Wesley's fault. Wesley :x

Legacy

I think we are into the 1990s now, but that was one hell of an 80s haircut. It was like if Kim Wilde had a daughter with Terminator 1's Linda Hamilton.

Solid episode, although suffered from some poor acting from the guest stars. And that I didn't care about Tasha Yar, let alone her family.

Data was excellent, but I am confused as to why he keeps denying he has emotions, when he clearly does feel things.

There seems to be an emphasis on the crew's family this season.

Reunion

The family theme continues!

Good episode and it's great to see storylines continuing across seasons of the show. Worf's a grumpy prick but easily one of the best characters in the show.

Future Imperfect

16 years and they've barely aged other than a bit of grey in the hair

While it was clear that it wasn't real, it was fun to see a possible future for the crew. Especially when Riker's filthy time in the holodeck was the cause of the Romulans plan failing

A great twist though as I never guessed that it was anything other than the Romulans strawberry floating with Riker's mind. A bored kid never occurred to me!

Slowly.

To be fair it's not just the fault of DS9, there's been a lot of other TV recently that I wanted to watch.

Based on the stuff you seem to have really liked in TNG I do think you'll like it once it gets going.
