A reminder that if you think you’re going to want a Perfect Draft machine when it gets hot later in the year, now is the time to buy. They’re desperate for sales at this time of year, so the discounts are huge. Come the summer demand, they’ll probably be full price.

Even with the discount those look expensive. What does one of those offer over just getting some cans/bottles out of the fridge?

Freshness and taste are the main benefits. Plus the selection - things you can’t get in bottles/cans, and the ability to dispense how much you want to drink. And it chills to 3 degrees, which is lower than people tend to have their fridges set.

But yeah, it’s not cheap.

Had a re-jig of the drinking order of my kegs recently.

Generally try and do them in Best Before Date order but had a few Winter type kegs (Leffe Blanche, Camden Marsden & Franziskaner Royal) that I wanted to drink before it starts getting warmer.

Started with the Leffe Blanche. Nice. Been a while since I had an Erdinger but it seems pretty similar to that.

I’m down to my last couple of Spaten Oktoberfest kegs and a Vocation Life & Death, so I’ve just used the latest 20% off code to pick up some of my new favourites from the last year - the Ninkasi Flower lager (sweet, odd, but nice) and Franziskaner Kellerbier, which I really enjoyed.

Spaten Oktober was my last keg. It was good but (I think you felt the opposite?) I thought the Lowenbrau was better. Could be because, it was my first time so had no expectations and the Lowenbrau blew me away and maybe created unreasonable expectations.

Not bought a Ninkasi. You make it sound like a stronger Innis & Gunn, which I love.

Got a Kellerbier, its a lager isn't it?

Yeah, but a cloudy, substantial one. Good for winter. I saw one review that I think nailed it: Like drinking liquid bread!

And I did prefer the Spaten to the Lowenbrau, but I’d had a lot of regular Lowenbrau over the summer and was maybe a little tired of it.

Sounds like I need to move that up the pecking order then.

Anyone had the opportunity to try Birra Moretti Sale di Mare yet?

Image

It's another unfiltered beer, but the difference with this one is that they've added Italian salt to it.

I see they're advertising that on TV now. Wouldn't mind trying it.

I had three kegs delivered on Friday - two Franziskaner Kellerbier and a Lowenbrau. Except they sent me three kegs of Tennent's instead. FFS. Had someone else's order slip in the box too, so I guess they've got mine. Just heard back from Perfect Draft. They've sent out a correct replacement, but told me I can keep the three Tennent's! Really not a fan of the stuff, but for free, it'll be a good, weak summer cooler.

I've seen a few shops round me start stocking Cruzcampo, and while it's not a spectacular lager by any means, it's taken me right back to my time living in Seville. Hoping it sticks around.

I just got the replacement delivery. It's someone else's order AGAIN. Three Lowenbrau this time. Wonder if they'll tell me to keep them again.

Think I need to put an order in!

Did you hear about the change in warehouse and the delays loads of people were having? Maybe it's down to that.

I hadn't heard, but I did think the address had changed. Didn't it used to be in Leeds? Must be utter chaos there. It seems like they're just throwing orders into boxes at random. God knows how many they've done wrong, and what it will cost them.

It took them two days to reply to my first message, which isn't like them.

I think so.

I think in terms of delays it's sorted now. I made an order early March and it took about a month to come. It was for the father in law though so I wasnt bothered! Got £35 worth of beer tokens out of it. Have a look at Trustpilot - they've been slaughtered.

I had my Kellerbier last week, delicious. Will definitely get again but probably not until Autumn now. Have you had the Royal? Think if you like the Kellerbier you'd like that too.

Just got "summer" kegs left now.
Hopped in Harmony - reviews are not good!
Hop Skip & Juice
CLWB Tropica
Lost Lager
Jupiler Spaten

The 2 new kegs are one extreme to another strength wise.

I've ordered some of these recently, think they look really good:

Oh my god, I’ve looked at trustpilot. What a catastrophe! They used to be so good, with genuinely great customer service. Hope they can turn it around, because it’s not like we can buy the kegs elsewhere (no retail outlets within 20 miles of me).

The Kellerbier’s great, isn’t it? Was really looking forward to that last weekend, so the delivery of Tennent’s was a cruel blow!

I thought Hopped in Harmony was OK, but nothing special. I’d probably rather have Punk IPA. I was keen to try Hop Skip & Juice because I love Life & Death, but I read the reviews and one said it was a very soapy IPA, which is a big red flag for me. Not my taste at all.

I ordered the Lager Top, kind of for a laugh, just to see what it’s like (and it’s cheap already). I probably wouldn’t have done if I’d known I would be lumbered with three weak kegs of Tennent’s, which I could have used to make my own shandy!

And yeah, that new Leffe is a hefty beast. I can’t imagine ever wanting a whole keg of something that strength.

Those tap handles look great. I’m still on the old machine. I took both of my tap units apart and gave them a good descale and grease-up the other week, ready for a new year of kegs.

Lager Top is same strength as Bud Light which I tried and think its too week. That said, I expect it would taste better.

Yes. I think the strong ones are all likely to be good but like you wouldn't want a whole keg of it.

You can get an adaptor to use them with the original machine. They're really good quality, quite weighty.
