Alongside my usual 10 cans of Shipyard I'll be picking up a couple of random ales to try tonight. I spotted a PB&J porter in Tesco earlier in the week that I'd like to try so that'll be on the menu for sure.

Am I wrong??

Our local is a Wadworth so my usual is a 6X, if that helps restore my credibility. I don't think you'll find a more hardcore ale fan than one who drinks 6X and Doom Bar

Have to say, a disappointing lack of discussion throughout this entire thread on the UK's number 1 favourite beer brand, Stella Artois. For shame.

Veg a really nice place, outside would be awesome in the evening with the lights. Going to have to arrange a couple of night stay in St Albans we were only there a couple of hours as a stop off on the way to a hotel we were staying in for the night, but it feels like a town that would be nice to spend an evening in going round some pubs.

Yeah St Albans is quite nice. There's a music venue called the Horn there that is a fun night out. I saw Wheatus and Zebrahead there.

Vodka, Chase do some outstanding vodkas that would work, the Marmalade vodka is out of this world good.

Limoncello would work too

If it's as good as Brewdog's usual well below average fare passing itself of as 'craft beer' then I think I'd rather thy the Aldi one!!

Run out of Wake Up And Smell The Gose. Booo. However I do have a small case of Guinness. :datass: Since it's a warm day I'll probably add a squizz of lime cordial to the bottom of the glass before pouring. Smoothes it out for more casual drinking.

Related, the above mentioned Gose is now £2 a tin at Tesco's, down from £3 (says how good I think it is that I pay that much for it). I hope the discount is because it's selling well and not because it's discontinued. I love it. It's sweet, sour, bitter and strong all at the same time. You couldn't drink it all nite, and it's certainly a love or despise thing, but for some reason it totally clicks with me.

RE Brewdog: lol. I was in Aberdeen to see Maiden a while back and they had exactly two beers on offer: Trooper and Punk IPA. The Scottish concensus seem to be Getaefuck Brewdog. Something about them being a massive company but still acting like they're small and indie, I think? Dunno. Don't think much of the majority of their output, though I will enjoy a Dead Pony Club now and then if it's on offer.

Speaking of Trooper, I remember in the O2 prior to a Maiden gig, pubs were selling 500ml bottles of it for around a tenner a pop. They sold out, too! Shocking. Also, while I can drink Trooper if in the mood, it's my second least favourite of the run that I've tried (after Light Brigade, which I really didn't care for). The Red & Black Porter, however, was absolutely delicious. So it was only a very limited run, obviously. Tut.

As the time approaches (about a month away) when I'm going to have a bit of disposable income, I've decided I'm gonna have a weekend away each month, and I think it's gonna be a themed thing where I visit certain landmarks and then try pubs nearby. First is probably going to be around Edinburgh Zoo, if only so I can meet Brigadier Sir Nils Olav III again. :datass:
