I’ve heard it’s good value.

It could do with a little bit more salt water in the recipe.

Are there nice whiskeys? I've tried Jack Daniels, Bells and similar, but they taste link varnish, the apple Jack Daniels is alright, but still make me shudder with the varnish taste.

Better people on here to give advice than me but I'd recommend Bushmills Black Bush or if you're happy to spend more Macallan.

Try a bourbon like Bulleit or Woodford Reserve. For scotch I would recommend Monkey Shoulder or a Glenfiddich 12.

All of the above are quite drinkable straight or with ice and all are cheap and usually available from your local supermarket.

Those are very bottom rung whiskies you've mentioned there..

The a good gateway into whisky is sweeter floral whisky.
AnCnoc is very good. As is Macallan 10.

If you want to try a smokey whisky, get a bottle of Highland Park 12 (my favourite "daily driver" whisky).
It's a great firs toe dip into smokey whisky.

Woodford Reserve is £23 at the momemt in Sainsburys, better than JD at least.

If looking into JD, theres Gentleman Jack and Single Barrel instead.

That's a great price for a very smooth and tasty bourbon. Can be drank straight or with ice. And if you still don't like it it makes a good Old Fashioned or just a bourbon and coke.

I know it’s not a “good” whiskey per se, but Canadian Club is a pretty smooth drinking experience. I quite like it.

Keep meaning to get a bottle of this. Mainly because of Don Draper.

One of the beers in the second BrewDog subscription box was excellent, but I wasn't impressed with the other three (one was just the Lost Lager, which is never going to measure up to good ale).

Third box arrived yesterday and the two I've tried so far have been really good. Looking forward to the other two with the football tonight :datass:.

Yeah, I neglected to mention that I wanted to drink it because of Mad Men. Or that I also smoked Lucky Strikes briefly for the same reason. I wasn’t even a smoker, really.
