#cocktailsnob

a gin and tonic isnt a cocktail because its just a mix of tonic water and a spirit

Is a Dark & Stormy a cocktail? Because that's just a mix of rum and ginger beer.

It is if you put a shot of rum/whisky in it.

By definition doesn’t a cocktail require at least one spirit, a mixer and some type of bitters? By that token almost nothing should be considered a cocktail as they don’t contain bitters.

nope apparently not! "an alcoholic drink consisting of a spirit or spirits mixed with other ingredients, such as fruit juice or cream."

Also, I've taken a liking to whiskey & soda water and rum & ginger beer.

Decided to buy Chicago Town’s new beer (yes, really), in conjunction with Seven Bro7hers. No idea what to expect. Undertones of pepperoni, presumably.

I know they aren't that popular and this may be another PR stunt, but Brewdog are giving away a free 4 pack of their carbon negative lager
www.brewdog.com

I'm in the queue (before 10am on a Monday is fine for this right?) so not sure how it'll actually work. I'm hoping it'll just say which shops near you have the lager available and a voucher etc.

Thought it may be of interest to some folk in here!

I did it the other day, not had it come yet obvs, but paid postage and there is an order showing on my account, queue is low at the moment, I had a tab sat there for like 2 hours on Friday for it, I think people not have to wait a little longer as I was on the first batch the queue now is on batch 2 I think.

I know some people dislike brewdog but they've started a subscription and you can get the first month free, 8 beers, a mix of brewdog and some others
https://www.brewdog.com/uk/brewdogandfriends

I'll take the free box then most likely cancel unless the selection is amazing. But thought I'd share!

Saws that earlier, seems like a decent idea instead of shipping beer from all over they are are brewing a version in the UK, canning and shipping to save on environmental impact, it wont be the same as the "proper" version but at least it wont be the gooseberry fool show that is the Wetherspoon festivals where they take a decent beer from the US or somwhere and get Adnams but strawberry float up brewing it.
