If only his knee had been drawn strapped up/reddened, that would have been *perfect*.

To be fair, I don't think Argentina ever had much of a shot at the Euros.

Seems a bit unfair to use Portugal winning a trophy to have a dig at Messi. It's a team game, and it's not even like Ronaldo played in the final, either.

Wouldn't a tournament like this mean a lot to any player, though?

I guess I only ever hear about Ronaldo when he's done something wankerish, but even when you watch him play, he just seems kind of unpleasant. Having a go at his team mates, acting like they're all there just to set him up.

That's probably why I said "major international tournament" rather than "the Euros".

I think as well it was the way Ronaldo was pretty much deliberately taken out of the game via Payet's knee... Which was really about the only thing he did all game...

He's an arrogant tosser on the pitch though absolutely, though it clearly did mean a lot to him...

Hank Scorpio was the Champion of the fantasy League with 338 points.

I was a distant 17th with 237 so maybe my claim of complete domination was a little optimistic  .

Regardless of whether you think the standard or entertainment value of international football has dropped, the past few finals have largely been gooseberry fool.

WC 2014 and 2010 and now this were decided by one goal later in extra time. Euro 2004 was decided by one goal, as was Euro 2008.

WC 2006 went to extra time and penalties after a 1-1 draw and is only remembered for Zidane assaulting another player.

The only real exception to this in the past decade and a bit, is Spain's 4-0 demolition of Italy in 2002.

Everything has been a dull affair dominated by teams being cagey, going safety first and desperately not trying to lose the game. Which is understandable but hasn't produced many great finals.

He throws massive strops when he doesn't get his way, thinks it looks cool to slick his hair into a big greasy wedge and literally cries when he gets upset. I think he might be a seven year old boy who found a cheat code for life and used all his points to become an incredible footballer.

He's stabbed him with... something. It illustrates ObBob's point rather well as it's something I would have done when 7 years of age, too.
