Euro 2020: Italy win it; morons, encouraged by UK govt., racially abuse England's greatest team since '66.

That seems a harsh decision.

So spain get a penalty for an identical situation to Sterling yesterday when VAR didn’t even review it yesterday. So inconsistent :fp:

Looked a pretty clear penalty to me. Caught him after the ball went. A little nasty actually with the contact.

Missed anyway.

Wouldn't say it was identical, that one he caught him pretty badly and the ball was still in play. Sterling flopped after some contact as the ball was going out. However, I agree they should have at least checked the Sterling one and although it would have been soft, probably was a penalty.

Indeed. Murphy doesn’t seem to realise that a foul can happen off ball. He keeps saying that the ball had already been kicked away but that doesn’t matter. The foul also doesn’t need to be intentional. He is right that not all contact is a penalty, that’s something I always say but if you stand on someone’s foot then you will be impeding them.

It was identical to Sterling yesterday though and VAR didn’t even review it.

It just seems one of those things that looks more evil in slow mo to me.

I do agree that slow motion is often a hindrance to making the correct decision.

One of the more fun days of the tournament so far today. I think the Euros so far has surpassed my expectations as I expected it to be a thoroughly miserable affair with the lack of rest players have had. I guess I didn't take into account the possibility more space would be freed up because of it leading to more joy for teams attacking.

The teams that qualify for the last 16 will probably be the ones most of us expected pre-tournament but it's been pretty fun getting there.

(I'm expecting the knockout rounds to be absolutely terrible now I've written this :slol: )

Great seeing France drop points and Germany winning, as that group's pretty interesting now. Same with Spain drawing, keeps things interesting.

Used ITV Hub to catch up on the highlights. strawberry floating hell - potato quality, and hundreds of adverts. Classic ITV rubbish.

The problem with the increased teams means that lot of these surprising results probably won't mean much - France's draw against Hungary won't cost them qualification, and even Spain's two draws might see them through. It reduces the chances of upsets like France in 2002, Italy in 2010 and Spain in 2014.

Wonder what it'll do to the knockout games if you have underperforming third place teams in there. Though that might include big name teams still, who could always choose that time to turn up (against England).

Last time out three of the third placed teams got knocked out in the round of 16. The other went on to win the whole thing

Seems a bold play to tell every other striker their performances in training and in-game mean strawberry float all, but maybe that's just me.

Surely the goalkeeper is the most important player?

Kane was never ever going to be dropped regardless of manager. Absolute non story.

Just nice to be able to watch a Wales game without Robbie Savage booming out of my speakers.

Italy's anthem is so good. We really need our own anthem, instead of the depressing dirge that we currently use.

I was just thinking this. A rare occasion to be grateful that a game's on ITV.

You wonder how up for this Italy are going to be, as they're already through.

Obviously they'll want to win, but if you get the odd player ducking out of a 50-50 to avoid an injury, then you never know, I guess.
