I can't let go of the hope that they all get together for bouts of Singstar and Rock Band. :(

There's a vid of Ellie and Oli Welsh playing Singstar together. And I imagine they've had one or two get-togethers.

I've played Guitar Hero with Tom Bramwell, if that's any good to you.

I've seen those Singstar videos! Both those things are good, but there's a disturbing lack of Gillen.

Well Rez is (but thats nothing new)...not so sure about Braid. World of Goo is much better all round, obviously PC or Wii rather than XBLA though.

Yeah, I knew Rez would be good; I just never got round to it on the PS2. Only played a couple of stages of Braid but I thought the atmosphere was pretty unique and interesting. Haven't really played it long enough to form a definitive opinion.

I'm hugely intrigued by World Of Goo but don't have a Wii. I could run it on my laptop but have no idea how it controls. Could I use keys or the touchpad, or would it be better to buy a mouse?

People need to slack off the Guiat Hero World Tour hate really, its good fun and it has an ace drum kit and the music creation is a plus. It no doubt beat Rock Band 2 as that is more of the same compared to Rock Band while Guitar Hero World Tour is leaps and bounds over Guitar Hero 3.

Not impressed with the top 5, non of those games feel like the pinnacle of gaming this year, just the most hyped.

It's a bit of a pain picking out individual goos when there are lots of them on screen even when using a mouse, not sure how much more accurate touchpads are.

Left 4 Dead, Fable 2, GTA IV and LBP aren't 'fun games'?

You have no idea what you are talking about, do you.

Even Fallout 3, while not obviously coming under than definition, offers a lot of fun times.

They feel more immersive than fun, I don't feel like I'm ehaving a great time when playing them but I feel the need to move on to see what happens next. Not once does Fable 2 offer tension or gripping thrills, neither does Fallout 3 or GTA, travel there hack that thing up, escape with little struggle or minor frustration, they just have the world and storyline to offer. I just think they lose the defination of a video games at times. And my play of Little Big Planet felt like Yoshi Story meets Kirby. Is spending hours designing a level fun? Satisfying output at the end but I don't think it brings great enjoyment during the process.

I'd honestly say it is, and I know I'm not alone in that.

Two more for the quote-a-thon, chalky

Well, that top 10 is alright, I guess. Shame about the Gears 2 spoilers :fp:

Indeed, it's a decent game. BUT...

It no doubt beat Rock Band 2 as that is more of the same compared to Rock Band while Guitar Hero World Tour is leaps and bounds over Guitar Hero 3.

Well, that's no reason to vote it higher. You could argue that the latest Spyro represents a more significant advancement over the last than Gears 2 does above Gears, but that doesn't make it deserving of a higher place. Rock Band tightened and refined an already superb game, making for just about the ultimate band sim. World Tour, for my money, has the better drumkit and guitar, but as a game, it's not as good as RB2, even given the music creation tool in Activision's game.

Not impressed with the top 5, non of those games feel like the pinnacle of gaming this year, just the most hyped.

So what IS the pinnacle of gaming this year?

I don't like to go into Hugo mode here, but you're wrong, and Hugo himself will be here with the reasons why in 5...

In seriousness, simply being leaps and bounds over GHIII(and I agree with you there) does not make it a better game. The bass, guitar and vocal sections of GHIV simply pale in comparison to Rock Band 2. As has been said in the threads, it actually feels like you're playing the notes in Rock Band's guitar charts, whereas Guitar Hero still feels like Neversoft have gone out of their way to stick in some fretboard wankery that doesn't always line up with the song being played. And I've already made my feelings on the vocals known - even LiPS outperforms GHIV in every single way there.

MGS4 at 30, while Tomb Raider Underworld is at 19 is nothing more than a controversy baiting nonsense.

Still, lists eh? Especially those weighing in at the size of this one, are nearly always going to be a load of wank. Thus I don't bother reading them (that is to say the actual feature).

Yep, both HOC and your good self have superbly articulated the sheer wrongness of Fruits Punch Santa's post. I'm seriously baffled by it.

I think playing Bass works better in World Tour thanks to the open notes... :shifty:

The open notes are a great addition, but the note charts themselves still aren't as good. There's something indescribably more "solid" about playing the songs in RB2 compared with GHWT.

Heh, I'm just happy Guitar Hero turned out to be as enjoyable as it has (on medium). I only pre-ordered it because the instruments were meant to be superior to the Rock Band bandset and for an extra €25 I got the game and an extra guitar compared to the €169.99 the Rock Band 1 bandkit on its own would have cost me.

On medium you wouldn't really notice the dodgy note charts as you're hardly playing any notes as it is. On hard I definitely noticed something amiss.
