Anywhere but London would be good.

I think Bristol is going for it. There's currently no suitable arena in Bristol though

Is anywhere in London even applying? I've always thought that it wouldn't even be worth bothering because the organising committees should (rightly) spread these sort of events around.

I would love it to be held in Liverpool because I live there and it lost out on the Commonwealth Games to Birmingham. There's a big arena and a huge musical heritage. I think Sheffield might be a good shout due to the Ukraine connection Carlos notes but Glasgow might be seen as a tool to help keep the Union together.

They are supposedly building an arena in Filton in one of the old aircraft hangars. They reckon they can get it ready in time.

Trouble is, Filton can't handle the traffic for the school run, the place is strawberry floated for a big live event.

It'll be Manchester.

I actually think they might throw it Glasgow’s way as a pro-Union bone. A particularly scrappy one at that.

It does fit with the history and initial aims of Eurovision which was all about unity and coming together. I mean it was also to help prevent war and it's unlikely England and Scotland are going to reignite old wars and that but still, togetherness and cooperation was why Eurovision was started in the first place.

It's Bristol, so i suspect the aircraft hangar idea will either be super late and overbudget, or it won't even get off the starting line.

It's a dumb location too, especially compared with the temple meads site which was a no brainer thanks to it being next to the biggest railway station in the region (and would have provided me and many others with an easy direct link to it).

Glasgow or Edinburgh would be funny purely for the rage of people annoyed they’d have the cheek to host it outside England.

Host it in Belfast. You get the gammon rage plus it'd be easier for EU citizens to attend.

It has been in Scotland before.

I’m totally against London getting all the events, but Eurovision’s record is not so bad. It hasn’t been in London since 1977, and four of the eight times the UK has hosted it’s been elsewhere (now five out of nine).

That was an odd choice, wasn’t it?

EDIT: Ah, the venue had just opened that year, so would have been sparkly and attractive. But it only held 2,000!

Tickets are hard to come by for sporting events when the venue can host 50,000+ and prices are extortionate, let alone when it's maybe 20,000 or less.

It's a shame more stadiums in this country don't have roofs because to me you could have comfortably packed a stadium out for this.

Newcastle is hilariously under-equipped to host anything like this. There’s not enough room in the place, simple as that.
