Swedish act was terrible. TERRIBLE.

Spain, Australia and Serbia were good. I was convinced the Australian chick had fake legs. Then she jumped off the box.

Ukraine will be a massive crater soon. The song was rubbish.

Wasn't Spain the "sing la la la la la say yay yay yay yay yay" one?

What the strawberry float was that winner about then?! Awful song, really depressing and forced crying for the votes.
I've always watched Eurovision (mum used to love it) and I embrace the cheese, but this year didn't have a single funny song, it's all trying too hard now.

Vincent Hanna: And now, finally, a word with the man who is at the centre of this Eurovision mystery: the voter himself. And his name is Mr. E. Bla-- Mr. Blackadder, *you* are the only voter in this rotten contest...?

Edmund Blackadder: Yes, that's right.

VH: How long have you lived on this continent?

EB: Since Wednesday morning. I took over the previous electorate when he, very
sadly, accidentally brutally cut his head off while combing his hair.

VH: One voter, 323 points -- a slight anomaly...?

EB: Not really, Mr. Hanna. You see, the Ukrainian entry may look like a monkey who's been put in a suit and then strategically shaved, but she is a brilliant singer. The number of votes I cast is simply a reflection of how firmly I believe in her music.

VH: Well, that's excellent. Er, well, that's all for me -- another great day for democracy in Europe, Russia, Israel and Australia. Vincent Hanna, Swedish Gentleman's Ikea Meatballs Gazette, Stockholm.

So this will be held in Russia next year once they finish annexing the rest of Ukraine?

(Away from the interwebs and so couldn't join in here last night)

I wasn't overly keen on the new voting system. It was, like, "lets listen to fifty minutes of one-by-one voting results" and then "okay, forget about all that, lets award several hundred points during the next three minutes". To be honest, I was pretty salty about it  :fp: .

I thought the range of quality songs was excellent, though. My favourites were....

1> Spain

2> Latvia

3> Germany

4> Australia

5> Sweden

It was a pretty cool contest!

There were still quite a few gooseberry fool and/or ridiculous songs. Poland's entry for instance was strawberry floating hilarious, which made its rise up the rankings at the end even better ( ).

I agree that there were too many forgettable tracks though.
