I got to see Dua Lipa live last month and she was genuinely fantastic - I knew almost nothing of her beforehand but was very impressed.

I'm really not into most pop music but there's a few of her songs that I 'll admit to liking.

Don't Start Now is legitimately great, that bassline is excellent.

Just listened to the new albums by Jack White and Ty Segall and I don't like either of them at all.

Both have gone for full acoustic album and I just find them boring.

I listen to BBC Radio6 Music fairly often in the car, and recently lots of Pixies songs seem to have come up. But they all sound completely different IMO :lol:

Back when we were playing MHTL's Playlist Game earlier this summer, IIRC Pixies songs featured on a few playlists, but they were often very heavy and not necessarily to my liking. However, some of the radio stuff I've heard has been very listenable indeed.

In the absence of a better thread within which to ask; anyone got any good recommendations for 'starter' albums / releases if I wanted to explore their back catalogue some more?

Doolittle and Surfer Rosa would be the 2 main ones to start with; most of their classics on those. There's also a couple of best of albums I think. I bought the Death To The Pixies one many years ago. Also, should check out some Frank Black albums - Teenager of the Year is a good one.
