Oceansize. What a band. Innovative catchy tunes. The first album, Effloresce is easily in my all time top 5, lots of early 90's Seattle sound in it,but a bit spacey and trippy at the same time. A Manchester band that didn't quite make it. Also, not really a Manchester band, they formed in Manchester but only one member is from the area.

I'm amazed it's took me this long to discover them. I'm going to give Cooper Temple Claus a try now as they're apparently a decent band.

Not really sure where else this would be relevant but Blink 182's Mark Hoppus has cancer. Blink were a big part of my teenage years and I'm a bit gutted about that!

Was he the annoying one, the obnoxious one or the twat?

Either way it's a shame, I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone. I hope he pulls through.

I think I saw Oceansize supporting Biffy Clyro in Swansea about 15 odd years ago. My mate absolutely adored them.

Like their effects pedals from memory

Mike Vennart, the main man from Oceansize now plays on tour with Biffy. He's a bit of a genius.

Heard a song I really liked on the radio earlier and was pretty surprised to find it was Ed Sheeran's new song because it sounds nothing like him:

Couldn't get two more different tracks from the same artist.

Gotta love just how weird some REM song titles are.

I listened to this a lot towards the end of this semester as deadlines were looming.

I've been enjoying some of the alt-idol bands coming out of Japan recently and some Korean alt-idol bands have started showing up on my radar

This album is one of the finest examples of 90's electronic music and its taken me far too long to discover it.

Its up there with Surrender (Chemical Brothers) Selected Ambient Works (Aphex Twin) and Music for the Jilted Generation (The Prodigy).
