Vita (and headphones) charged up, Chinatown Wars installed! All set!

I've always been disappointed I sort of missed the boat on GTA online. I played it a few times at the start on my 360, so my 'progress' should still be there if I bought it on Xbox One right?

Go, Grin! You're leading the way!

Great to see that even more folk are now joining the GTA weekender! I'll update the event log this morning and then I'll be landing here with GTA IV on my 360. Let's go for a joyride!

Nope. Character transfers were retired ages ago as hackers of the 360/PS3 were giving themselves millions and then transferring over. You'll have to start again. It should be easy enough to get started, though.

You gotta make a mark to move where you want to..."

The event is live and we have fifteen (15!) GRcadians playing GTA games over the course of this weekend event :toot: . It's not too late to join in - just post the appropriate details here (as per the event log) and I'll update it :-).

Enjoy your GTA action... I'm loading up GTA IV right now! Gonna take a few screenshots (using my camera 'cos I'm playing on the 360!) and post 'em here!

Cool thread Jawa. I've been playing GTA V on and off in VR, the experience and immersion is incredible.

Short vid here of when I first set it up: https://youtu.be/mhYWl-RRsZg?t=111

The footage isn't great but I've now figured out how to fix the black bars through Oculus Mirror and smooth out the video.

I've been considering doing a full walk across the map in VR so may now record it this weekend!

Thanks, Holpil I didn't even know that GTA V was playable in VR! It looks really neat - some of those graphic mods are incredible - and I've taken the liberty (City!) of adding you to the event log in the opening post, marked down for some GTA V VR action :-) :toot: .

Love the VR gameplay. I’ll be playing some later and I’ll post some shots!

Pottering about in GTA IV on the Xbox 360 has been pretty neat. I hadn't played on my 360 for ages and it was cool to give it a run-out again.

I'd forgotten how the game graphically uses a lot of bloom; it's quite "murky" to look at. Funnily enough I actually like the feel of the driving... and I know that this is an aspect that a lot of folk decry! The vehicles have a weight to them and I like the use of the brakes; it feels decent.

The sense of scale to the game remains impressive and I still enjoy the "drive anywhere" approach; I like to just take a car and scoot around whilst checking out the radio stations. Silly stuff like driving into the sea and trying to get a motorbike onto a building roof is ace, too :-).

GTA 2 is horrible. I don't think I played it back in the day although it appears to be identical to the first game which I definitely owned on Ps1.

Anyway, the controls are fiddly, everything moves slowly, the police are easy to avoid, the streets are soulless with the same NPCs walking about or standing in the way waiting to be run over, all the guns feel the same, the radio stations are terrible and the driving is abysmal.

I can't really believe its a game in the same series as GTA 5 (or from the same studio as Red Dead Redemption 2!) it is so different. Its almost like a very bad mobile game.

I've given it half an hour and that's enough.

It is 20 odd years old so it was hardly going to be that similar to RDR2!

But yeah I don't think the 2D games have aged particularly well, or were that good to start with in all honesty. It's part of the reason why GTA3 was such a revelation IMO

Will head on to GTA Online, though already agreed to watch a film with tea, so may not get too much time on tonight.

I'll be posting some videos over the weekend. Is there anything in particular anyone would like to see? I'm happy to show off some rampages, heists, races, survival modes etc and am fortunate enough to have most of the interesting vehicles and tools at my disposal.

Yeah, GTA 2 is a relatively mild step up from the first game, Dual. I've not played it for many a year now but I'd imagine it's a bit clunky; a degree of nostalgia probably helps!

Top man, <]:^D ! It'll be good to hear what you think about it; I'd imagine it's pretty cool playing those ol' tracks on the radio again!

That's great, Sprout! It'll be neat to see a snapshot or two of some of the vehicles you're picked up.

I'll do a bit of a vehicle show case for sure.

I feel a little rusty, which is funny for a game I've put hundreds of hours into.

Had 15 minutes free, so set myself a challenge of getting and escaping 5 stars. Owning a tank and a fighter jet made that relatively easy. Mission complete!
