This topic is about the activities of the Extinction Rebellion group, good and bad.

The topic author has been reassigned to someone interested in it because the original was baiting.

Please discuss cordially, thanks

It’s all very well insulting people with names like “crusties” and “tree huggers”, but what would you do to help with climate change?

Sitting on your arse doing strawberry float all isn’t helping.

We are rapidly approaching the point of irreversible Armageddon if we don't do anything about this. These guys might all be massive dickheads but I'm glad they're doing what they're doing. They are not in a position to make the changes themselves, but that doesn't mean that their protests achieve nothing.

Good to see people giving a gooseberry fool about it.

Sometimes their methods may be misjudged but that doesn’t change the accuracy of their message. And at least they’re doing something.

On the one hand, climate collapse will kill millions and millions of people; but on the other hand, the people trying to warn everyone about climate collapse delayed my train once; so in conclusion, both sides are as bad as each other

Oh Karl. Millions will die but did you not see that the fire hose could have hurt somebody?

Ok it didn’t actually hurt anybody but the fact that it might have surely means it is exactly the same as millions of people dying?

I just think it's important to act responsibly. After all, you don't see governments or big businesses doing short-sighted things that could endanger us all.

Ah, well, nevertheless,

I’m a Londoner and am ready to get absolutely FUMMIN about having difficulties getting into work tomorrow. That way the FUMS will go into the atmosphere and cause even more climate change.

Your move, ER. Your move.

I think we need a holistic method for fighting climate change. It's like a wild fire, if you just leave it they'll still be some trees left when it's burnt itself out. If we don't do anything about climate change the climate will change which will reduce the number of polluters so the plant can start to heal. If you feel we need a quicker solution I suggest releasing more C02 because that'll speed up the conditions to reduce C02.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

I was there yesterday helping set up some band equipment which was donated last minute as a make shift PA system after the police impounded the stuff as "evidence" or something.

Most people who have put time in for XR have probably worked harder than Mommy ever has :simper:

I'm all for reducing pollution and the like, but these wankers are doing more harm than good by going out of their way to piss everyone off.

I'd happily tear gas the lot of them.

And another person talking gooseberry fool. How do you suggest we make this happen in the next 10 years? Please remember every other avenue has been pursued, people don't get arrested for the fun of it, I'm sure everyone would prefer to be doing other things with their life. I know I would on my days off.

The same was and is said about the suffragettes. It’s probably true to an extent, but if people aren’t inconvenienced then it’s a lot easier for them to ignore the problem altogether until it’s too late.

So what do you suggest people do?

Pollution and climate change has been a hot topic for decades now and nothing gets done. How do ordinary people go about changing things?
