Don't get why you'd want to disrupt the trains when we should be encouraging more people to use public transport instead of cars.

The violence is also shitty.

It's scary that a not insignificant proportion of the commuter population is capable of doing that on a Thursday morning. Kicking someone helplessly trapped on the floor, surrounded by other people doing the same thing... you like to think something like that is confined to a dramatic scene taken from a gangster film.

Do you commute in London? It's a miserable experience made even worse by delays. I'm not surprised some people went mental and beat up a protestor who was attempting to cause even more CO2 emissions by shutting down the transport network.

I don't care if the guy climbed the train and started shouting reprehensible nazi gooseberry fool, lining up to kick someone on the ground is an absolute pussy move.

I can understand why one guy give him a smack as the guy on the train booted him in the face. The others, not so much.

I take the view that while the protesters have definitely caused disruption, there's no excuse for the commuters to assault them like that.

True, but in turn the protester shouldn't have lashed out at commuters who just wanted to get to work.

You can't kick someone in the face and not expect a reaction.

Yeah the guy on top of the train gave that guy a strawberry floating cracking whallop to the shoulder/neck.

I'm not surprised they retaliated, but I am shocked by it.

But why the tube? Isn't that like the most environmentally friendly method of public transport?

We should be encouraging people to take the tube/trains.

Do they want to ban all forms of transport? Is everyone going to have to walk everywhere?

I totally agree with their overall message but this is a huge misstep for ER.

ER as a whole voted against this protest (and actually condemned it) didn't they? I think this particular protest was done by a small splinter group rather than being an action of ER as a whole.

I doubt much, if any, of the media will draw attention to that though.
