No one should even speak on the tube, let alone cause that kind of disruption, so it's hardly surprising things quickly boiled over.

Kim Wilde is allowed to get drunk and sing on the tube at Christmas though, right?

They’ve just sent out a statement basically condoning the protest so ignore the above. :dread:

Don't get why you'd want to disrupt the trains when we should be encouraging more people to use public transport instead of cars.

The violence is also shitty.

That's vigilante behaviour. And that's not good.

It's scary that a not insignificant proportion of the commuter population is capable of doing that on a Thursday morning. Kicking someone helplessly trapped on the floor, surrounded by other people doing the same thing... you like to think something like that is confined to a dramatic scene taken from a gangster film.

Do you commute in London? It's a miserable experience made even worse by delays. I'm not surprised some people went mental and beat up a protestor who was attempting to cause even more CO2 emissions by shutting down the transport network.

Lol what, I haven't seen the video but that sounds cowardly as strawberry float.

I don't care if the guy climbed the train and started shouting reprehensible nazi gooseberry fool, lining up to kick someone on the ground is an absolute pussy move.

I can understand why one guy give him a smack as the guy on the train booted him in the face. The others, not so much.

63% of Britons say their sympathies in this case lie more with the commuters who dragged the protesters off

13% say their sympathies lie with the climate change protesters

While 14% say neither

Those aged 18-24 (23%) are nearly twice as likely as those aged 25-65 (13-14%) and three times as likely as those over 65 (7%) to say their sympathies lie with the climate change protesters.

I assume those who threw punches and kicks at the protesters were ‘important businessmen’.

I take the view that while the protesters have definitely caused disruption, there's no excuse for the commuters to assault them like that.

True, but in turn the protester shouldn't have lashed out at commuters who just wanted to get to work.

You can't kick someone in the face and not expect a reaction.

Yeah the guy on top of the train gave that guy a strawberry floating cracking whallop to the shoulder/neck.

I'm not surprised they retaliated, but I am shocked by it.

Kim Wilde should lose her passport for singing we're the kids in America.

Kim Wilde.

I had a poster of her on my wall back in the 80s. My first love next to Princess Aura from 80s movie Flash Gordon.

I was a happy young man (read boy)

But why the tube? Isn't that like the most environmentally friendly method of public transport?

We should be encouraging people to take the tube/trains.

Do they want to ban all forms of transport? Is everyone going to have to walk everywhere?

I totally agree with their overall message but this is a huge misstep for ER.

ER as a whole voted against this protest (and actually condemned it) didn't they? I think this particular protest was done by a small splinter group rather than being an action of ER as a whole.

I doubt much, if any, of the media will draw attention to that though.
