I prefer to play my games on PS4, especially as i spend far too much time sat here at the PC desk as it is.

It does sound fun, but I have F1 2013 and 2018 in my steam library and barely played either of them, so can't justify this unfortunately.

My last F1 game was 2017 so i'm definitely up for a new one.

Same with me with 2017 being my last game, I think it’s a very worthwhile upgrade though. I’ve yet to start a season in either of the two modes (waiting for the performance upgrade which hopefully will be part of the day 1 update when the standard version releases on Friday) but I’ve had a great time in Grand Prix and time trial mode.

Just had a bit of a time trial session, got up to about 700th which pretty gooseberry fool, but there's more to come.

Will play the proper game tomorrow and try some races out.

Seems to be a few bugs though. On completion of my first hot lap, the game crashed  Then on first boot I noticed I had 15k credits against my name (maybe a Schumacher edition bonus or something). After the crash then had all gone :simper:

I’ve not seen any extra credits by my name either? Haven’t redeemed the pit pass which I believe you get with the Schumacher edition though.

There were some, and then they just vanished.

Just watched the IGN review and the team stuff looks great, I've redownloaded 2013 just to see if I like playing F1 in general as much as watching, and may consider from there.

Very tempted by this, although I would need to get a race wheel again mmfor my pc as I've never enjoyed F1 games with a controller

Have Codemasters said when the 2020 F2 cars and the performance patch will be released?

I had a couple of hours on this tonight, and started the my team mode.

I picked a ferrari engine, which is the best according to this (pleeeeease don't get a performance patch :dread: ), and picked Mick Schumacher as my team mate (you have to pay for both and this was the best combo I could get imo).

My Team looks great, with a deep yellow and matte gunmetal colour scheme. Only complaint is the logo is gooseberry fool, because you have to pick from their templates rather than upload your own.

Started a full season and 90% difficulty. Did a load of assessments in FP1 to earn some development points, and have started a 25% race distance. Currently saved in the middle of a race, where I'm 2nd behind Hamilton, not on performance, but because Mick crashed out and I didnt have a button assigned to accept the pit strategy change, so I stayed out and now the whole field is following, meaning as soon as I pit I'll be last :fp: Might just ride it out and see what happens for some practice, then restart with the buttons I need actually assigned. Before the safety car I was running 15th and close to the guys in front, so with a bit of luck maybe a top ten is within reach (my team is a back marker really).

I’m sure I read before release that when the performance patch gets released you’ll be able to decide whether to apply it to current careers/my team careers or not. Might just start my my team career at the weekend even with/without the performance patch, getting the itch to get one of the careers underway!

My team VRSR looking a lot like Renault pretty sweet

My Team - Race 1 - Australian GP

Qualifying

I didn't do too well and could only get as high as 15th, despite having the pace for at least 12th, maybe 10th in the best circumstances. Unfortunately every fast lap would see me blocked in many corners so I couldn't string it together.

Race - 15 laps

I managed to punch above my team's weight and score a 7th place finish! :toot: It was really tough and I just couldn't keep up with Albon in front of me for the last 8 laps, and my tyres were dead for the last couple due to pushing too hard, so I nearly lost out. Unfortunatlet my team mate Mick Schumacher retired on lap 5, so I was the only point scorer. On pure pace, VRSR is on a par with Haas, Renault and Force India. I've set some development points in to the chassis department to try and get a bit of weight out and up my cornering speed.

I took pole on the first race but got caught on turn
1 by Vettel and busted my wing. I managed to get back to 1st, but two laps later spun out and never recovered well. Still got the purple lap but came last. At one point I deliberately crashed to get a safety car out as it was the only way to get me back to the pack.

I’m absolutely dominant on my own so I should probably up the difficulty or turn off more assists, but the chaos of the other cars, and the consistency needed for 15 laps of flawless racing with no lapses of concentration is still a big ask.

Definitely put the difficulty up if you're playing as your own team, because the point of it is it's supposed to be a struggle to even get points early on. Seeking out performance through track time and R&D is part of it, so if youre just rocking up and taking easy wins (or able to) it'll get boring really quickly. I've got a recording of my race, not sure how much of it will be captured as it only does 20 mins at a time.

Can’t decide which team to try and resurrect for my My Team career, pretty certain I’ll be going for the Alpha Tauri to Red Bull in my standard career, will be the first time I’ll have used either of these teams in career mode since the 2013 game.

I’ll be sticking with the AI on setting 90 and seeing how I fare, if I’m woefully far off even the last few drivers I may drop it by 5 just so I’m not lapping basically on my own for the race.

They're the diet coke of Renault, just one calorie, not Renault enough.

Still, we'll see if i can do any better (doubtful), as i've now placed an order for a PS4 copy at Argos which i shall collect tomorrow.

Hope you think it’s as much of an upgrade as I do when you get round to playing it.

For My Team I think I’m going to revive BAR Honda, with Jenson Button as team principal/lead driver after a shock return to racing. Will I need to put BAR Honda as the team name? Or will it show up as BAR Honda in the results screen anyway?

I wonder if you can mod textures on pc like in previous codemasters games, if that's the case there is one team I would love to try representing:
