Project cars has laser scanned (so accurate) track layouts, whereas codemasters ones are made by hand, so have some strange inaccuracies to them.

Like the odd bump on the entry to the main straight at Suzuka, playing with no TC that caught me out a few times in the past, they’ve sorted it finally for this years game.

So if they wanted they could just take the tracks from those and tweak the visuals on them to match the other tracks.

Edit, no idea what I’m doing wrong but the F2 cars are god awful, just qualified last round Baku on 75 difficulty :fp:

Edit 2, went from 20to 4th after putting TC from medium to full, got fastest lap by about 3/4 of a second. Think I might put the difficulty up rather than putting TC back to medium.

Had a bizarre race at Barcelona today, there was a mild collision at the chicane on lap 1 and out came the safety car, the damaged cars must have pitted at the time but i didn't notice.

Anyways, was leading until the pit stop (i'm on 25% distance), but when i left the pits, the two damaged midfield cars were leading by quite the margin.

In the end, i was unable to catch them in time, and so George Russell won in his AlphaTauri, followed home by Latifi in an Alfa!

I've not come across any oddities like that yet, but then I'm still only on my 3rd race weekend. I'm finding that due to the commitment I need to do a whole weekend, I'm not actually playing this :fp: It feels like I need a good 2 or 3 hours to practice, do the missions, quality and race, becuase I've got it set quite difficult so need to be in the zone.

i don't have 2020 yet but i did have probably my greatest race in 2019 last night having won in a pouring rain race at Sochi in the williams keeping Hamilton at bay although im sure if it was dry with DRS enabled he would have easily overtaken me. considering i was truggling to pass the ferraris on the straights

Likewise, definitely feel like you need a few hours set aside to do a full weekend, probably why I’ve been messing about more in Grand Prix mode and F2 more than my ‘My Team’ career, still a cracking game though when I do get a few hours with it.

My team recorded it's best finish for the second driver today, Giovinazzi finished in 7th place.

Straight after the race though, his contract was up and so i replaced him with Esteban Ocon (who i poached from Williams).

Another update out today, sadly not the performance one but it did include the black Mercedes which has grown on me since it was unveiled, did a 25% race round Spa with it and it feels fantastic.

Yeah, i did notice they'd added that, though sadly they don't seem to have updated the McLaren yet.

On a separate note, in my team career, Kimi has been taken off the driver market and there's been an announcement that he is retiring.

I didn’t try out the McLaren, saying that they’ll have the Gulf logo to put on that as well now!

FINALLY had a few hours spare this morning to carry on with my team :toot:

Race 4 - China

Practice

Really struggled across the FP sessions to get in to a groove, but I slowly got there to finish around the middle of the pack.

Qualifying

I put some softs on and on my first lap hooked everything up, along with catching my team mate on the last long straight for a great slipstream, leaving me a storming 7th :toot:

Race

Had an ok start, but banged wheels with Norris and slotted in the pack in 6th. My pace was dropping off heavily on lap 4 when I pitted, and as I commited to the pit lane the safety car came out. Couldn't have been better timed :toot: Once all that shook down I was running in 3rd until lap 10, when Sainz got past me, and I managed to hold on to 4th until the end, bagging some big points :datass:

I am really not looking forward to racing round Hanoi :dread:

Anyway, Logitech have announced their new wheel today, £350 but that should last me the rest of this generation and all of next as it’s compatible with the current gen and next gen consoles and should be reliable throughout if their previous wheels are anything to go by, fingers crossed like their previous gen wheels these will work past the PS5 and Series X as well.

So yeah... Hanoi... First free practice was in the wet, so I didn't really get a lot out of that one. The other two FP sessions were dry, but I still didn't feel prepared. Managed to qualify in 12th, but in the end, that didn't really matter. Several small misteps had me losing a second per lap, and I had to keep giving away positions, until it eventually got too much for the car, and the 15th that I'd managed to hold slipped fast as the front wing had taken too much damage which forced me into the pit with two laps left before I damaged anything else. I was coming out of the pit lane last anyway, so I didn't need to push myself to cross the line.

I also feel like everything on the car needs to be replaced anyway, as the pit crew were saying that my engine was starting to wear.

God I hated that track. It reminded me of the real reason is stopped playing f1 games, the tracks are mostly gooseberry fool and not fun to play at all. Compare it to my favourite ever f1 game, f1 97. Look at the tracks thsst had!

What was everyone’s first F1 game then? Mine was F1 World Grand Prix on the N64, loved it to bits  kind of odd I never got into watching F1 till 2009 really.
