The modern tracks are the biggest reason why I don't play modern f1 games any more, and the main reason I gave up on f1 2020. The tilkedromes are just soulless car parks and crap to play. In all my other games, I avoid any modern tracks wherever I can, I can't stand all the stop start bollocks.

Look at the f1 97 track list:

1 Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, Melbourne 9 March
2 Brazil Brazilian Grand Prix Autódromo José Carlos Pace, São Paulo 30 March
3 Argentina Argentine Grand Prix Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez, Buenos Aires
4 San Marino San Marino Grand Prix Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola
5 Monaco Monaco Grand Prix Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo
6 Spain Spanish Grand Prix Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona
7 Canada Canadian Grand Prix Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal
8 France French Grand Prix Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Magny-Cours
9 United Kingdom British Grand Prix Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone
10 Germany German Grand Prix Hockenheimring, Hockenheim
11 Hungary Hungarian Grand Prix Hungaroring, Budapest
12 Belgium Belgian Grand Prix Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot
13 Italy Italian Grand Prix Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Monza
14 Austria Austrian Grand Prix A1-Ring, Spielberg
15 Luxembourg Luxembourg Grand Prix Nürburgring, Nürburg
16 Japan Japanese Grand Prix Suzuka Circuit, Suzuka
17 Europe European Grand Prix Circuito Permanente de Jerez, Jerez de la Frontera

Nearly every one of them was a good track.

Only one I don’t know out of those 17 is the Argentinian one, all the rest are very good to great.

Most of the new tracks aren’t a patch on the older ones. I don’t get why they don’t mix the tracks up more, Jerez has the needed FIA grade 1 license to hold F1 events, so why not alternate that with Barcelona for example? It’s woeful that Germany hasn’t got a race despite having 2 available tracks (one better than the other though) but the likes of Saudi Arabia has just as they’re throwing money at F1 for it. Best Tilkedrome by far is Turkey.

I'm a few rounds into Breaking Point.

I actually quite like it. The drama is pretty cheesy but also pretty accurate. All it needs is some BS from the team leaders and it would be pretty eery.

I'm all over the place with consistency though. I don't yet really have a proper feel for the cars and can't reliably bang in 10 consistent on pace laps. Until I can do that the game can be quite frustrating. Breaking Point with its short to the point goals and avoidance of wank races really helps in that regard.

I've noticed Quick Resume doesn't seem supported (and I'm sure it was with 2019). I'm never sure where Breaking Point saves, and always end up going through the post race bits again.

I think (from what I’ve seen) that Braking Point seems to have nailed the realistic/cheesy ratio.

I think QR only ever worked 2 or 3 times for me with F1 2020, I think the always online nature (even if only in the background) really hampers QR for some games (or maybe all games that are always online?). Not expecting F1 2021 to fare much different really.

Maybe it was just F1 2020 then, not played any other F1 games on my Xbox so can’t compare it to anything.

Yas Marina, Sochi are just as bad

Sochi is an awful track, i don't mind Yas Marina though.

Vietnam though was just ugh, and i also dislike Albert Park as it's just stop/start/stop/start with no decent flow for the most part.

Albert Park is ok and has a flow apart from a couple of corners but overall its a better track then Sochi, Vietnam, Yas Marina.

That track was better in the older era f1 cars, as now the slow bits are horrible heavy understeer fests, whereas before you could drive them a lot harder (the car park bit in particular).

got the game Yesterday and the use of the triggers on the Ps5 is fun and the story is pretty cheesy so far where butler is the moustache twirling bad guy. can we petition EA or Codies to change their ingame word filters since just like 2020 for whatever reason they have filtered any Manufacturer from being used in a MyTeam name so you cant have Honda Mercedes or tifosi for whatever reason really pisses me off when its not even online or anything

Thought I’d post this here as this is to do with the game,

Obviously Codemaster’s model might not turn out anything akin to this but it looks like next years cars could be a bit more of a handful if this is even remotely right (watch them be more or less stuck to the track thanks to their interpretation of ground effects minus skirts next year). Wish Codemasters would stump up the fee to include the full Nordschleife  as well as more classic tracks. If they did I’d probably spend about half my time hot lapping the ring

I imagine they’ve only expanded their forbidden words too, last year I’m sure you could use Aston Martin (never did myself) and Jaguar to name a couple.

Me neither for the vast majority of them but he’s one of the few I actually think are decent to watch from time to time :shifty: Well, as far as the ones playing racing games go that is.

Zandvoort is mighty, love that track, can't wait to see the first real race there later this summer.

I've also just had my first experience with Zandvoort. Not sure how it will be as a real life race track as it seems narrow most of the way around, but it's definitely fun to drive.

Its a great driver's track, but not really suited to modern F1. I've had much more fun on that track in various games driving slower cars.

Yeh for actual F1 I can see it being a bit like Imola.

Just won at a wet Spa in breaking point. Felt good staying out when called in for full wets. I've really enjoyed the story, it's been a bit cheesy at times and it often feels like the nuance of your specific results is just ignored buy it's fun all the same.

As soon as I see this on sale I think I’ll probably end up jumping on it, kind of getting the itch to get it already! I’ll have a race on F1 2020 to tide me over :shifty:
