Managed to grab half an hour on this just no, Imola and Portimao are two of the best tracks on the game now

I was saying just a few days ago that I hate Circuit of the Americas in games, but that was in Forza in a road car. I was playing it last week in Forza 7, using a Dodge Charger and I just feel like I'm always on the breaks. Spent a while just doing hot laps in this earlier and it feels so different in F1. Very enjoyable track!

I’ve never got any degree of consistency round COTA, I can have the odd very good lap but most of the time I make a mess of sector 1, reasonable sector 2 & 3. It’s not Mexico levels of bad for me but not great either.

Last track has been added to the 2021 game,

Looks utterly boring :dread:

What a poor track Jeddah is, it’s not anywhere near as bad to drive as Hanoi (which will forever immortalise F1 2020 as the only place to ever drive the Vietnamese track, unless for some bizarre reason someone wants to put the worst track in recent history into another game?) as that was astonishing how poor that was. It’s just constant high speed after high speed corner, if you’re close behind someone you just grip in the dirty air. Unless the vastly faster car is behind this will probably be a very boring pole to win when the F1 goes there in a few weeks.

This is currently £9.99 on Steam until the end of Tuesday. I know the season is almost done, but that's a huge discount.

I got it yesterday for that price, I think it's normally £24.99 but you get another £15 off if you have some other F1 game in your library.

It’s a really good buy for £10, I’d find it hard to say it’s worth the standard launch price of £60 or so though, hard to say it was worth the upgrade over 2020 barring the cracking tracks of Portimao and Imola.

Have been able to download the update without any issues this time, haven't tried Jeddah yet but have just started a new season on myteam and so have added it to the roster.

Jumped in for £9.99, not played it properly yet just had a couple few laps on the tracks I've not driven before. (Netherlands, Saudi etc).

I can't see the Saudi track being an entertaining race to watch.

I'm so gooseberry fool at racing in this! My career at Aston Martin so far has been getting good qualifying results and just having no chance in the races themselves, often punctuated by radio calls saying my engine has gone to gooseberry fool.

I keep seeing suggestions that the AI is quite interesting in this, in that they make more natural mistakes. I'm just not seeing it. They're quite good against me but I don't think I've seen any kind of AI on AI incident in 16 career races so far.

Is it linked to the difficulty rating at all?

I imagine the rate the AI make mistakes is probably linked to the overall difficulty in some way, probably just a hidden slider that ups aggression and mistakes alongside overall pace? I could well be wrong though

Anyone else planning on loading this up at the weekend? Think I might go for a 50% or 100% race round Abu Dhabi and then relegate this to a hot lap game, time trials are just plain addictive, especially round the properly decent tracks  The career mode is fine but it just feels lacking? Braking Point was a very welcome addition looking back at it.

I'm nearing the end of my first season but I might restart it as I'm using a save from earlier in the year when the game was free for a weekend, and I think updates since then add things like the Saudi GP. I've mostly used it to get used to each track and find my overall AI level.

Career mode is definitely shallow but I'm not sure what they else they could really do? I automate the R&D and PR stuff because I don't find it all that interesting and then you're left with the GP weekends, which I guess is all I really care about F1 anyway.

I suppose they could include F2 as a starting point in the Career mode since it's there for the rest of the game?

You can start in F2 and then progress into F1 if you want, might not have been an option on the free weekend you tried it on?

Ah I must have just jumped straight into F1 at the time.

Is that only if you don't do My Team? I didn't see an option for starting in F2 the other week.

I’m sure it’s an option for a standard F1 career as well, will have to have a quick look later.
