Anyone get this?

Looking forward to starting Co-op seasons. I’m wondering whether with the disk version I can download both PS4 and 5 versions as there’s no cross play but I want to use the haptics.

I checked out the PS4 box cover and, yeah, it looks like you can upgrade the PS4 version to the PS5 version, CK.

Yeh seen that. I was just wondering if you'll be allowed to download both or it would somehow cut you off after you first choose

I've not got it yet because of the fact that the new tracks and stuff have yet to be added, but will likely do so at some point.

I got it, but on Series X, and when you pop the disc in, is starts installing and then asks if you want to upgrade, so not sure you could have both installed on Xbox. I know they both treat upgrades quite different though. Did a practice/quali/race at Silverstone so far but not much else. I want to jump into Breaking Point, might do so after the real life Sprint Race.

I’ll definitely be getting it at some point, generally I get a lot of enjoyment from the F1 games I’ve had (I think I’m over 100 hours in the 2020 game without realising how I’ve put that amount of time into it), don’t get many yearly sports games but get the majority of the F1 ones.

I’m planning on waiting for a sale later in the year, for extra/new tracks to be added in and for the various minor issues to be patched out (hopefully) but then again, I’ve not had chance to watch much gameplay of this years game yet so knowing me I’ll watch some and succumb to it shortly

I think the best thing they could do with the F1 games are introducing cross play, it’d make it much easier for people to find decent people to race online with rather than the crash fest that’s the open lobbies :dread: If they ever added VR I’d probably finally get around to trying that too, providing there’s a headset that works on the Series X.

Edit, another bonus about waiting at least a few weeks is you can just grab career/my team car setups from YouTube, while I like the games I’ve not got the patience to make my own setups.

Same Robbo, love sim-lites but I can't set up a car anymore, I just don't have the time I did back when I was playing Grand Prix in the 90s and 00s. So yeah I'll be holding off too until the full season is added in, and all the set ups are available online.

Do people tend to play with the wheel or pad? I just can't be arsed getting a wheel again and to be honest I'm not good enough at the game to justify it. But I felt F1 2018, the last one I owned, catered more to the wheel.

F1 2019 is on Gamepass so that will keep me busy until they've brought 2021 up to date.

Made a very brief start on Breaking Point earlier, and it's SO similar to Fifa's 'The Journey'. I can see some people enjoying it, but if the start is any indication, it takes way too many liberties with the cinematics. Half way through a race it will just cut to a cinematic scene of an incident. You can resume racing after it, but nothing you do seems to matter too much. I've had two really good finishes for a rookie and it's not even got a mention, just the 'incidents' with your team mate that happen in cinematic form. Also, Devon Butler being smug to me about said incidents, as if it's indicative of a poor start to the season while I've finished way ahead of him twice.

I've heard later on you get specific objectives in races, so hopefully the story starts to reflect what you've actually done a little more.

I play with a wheel the majority of the time, I just find it a lot more enjoyable but I do still play with a pad the odd time, I find I need to knock the AI down a few clicks when I’m on the pad rather than the wheel though. F1 2020 will keep me busy enough till I see a good sale on 2021 as I’m mainly just doing a Grand Prix wherever the current race is in the 2021 season, if the tracks in the 2020 game of course.

I’ve watched a bit more of Braking Point and think it looks a lot of fun if you don’t take it too seriously  looks very much like something that’s something you just play the once but then again the standard career mode has always been my go to in the F1 games anyway so that’s not a bad thing really.

Found this website which is apparently how you decide on your AI level for each race. Basically set a lap in time trial and put it into this site and it’ll give you a rough figure, probably better off doing a handful of laps and working out the average though.

Only just discovered you can change the Breaking Point difficulty after starting it. It can only been done during a race, not between them. Need to keep cranking it up as despite being a very average racing gamer, the AI is not proving a challenge at all.

Also, still irrationally annoyed at Breaking Point ignoring your gameplay entirely. Same stuff between races no matter what. I won a race and the commentary was oh just how high would he have finished without that puncture.

A rookie has won a race, commentary completely ignore his first win

I know they say EA didn't have any control over this game, but it really feels EA managed to get their mitts into it.

Had a bit of a mare this weekend. I tested F1 2019 and honestly the loading times and everything were so painful. I couldn't be arsed to wait so long for each session to load. Granted this was on my old Xbox One.

Then I decided to try Forza 7. My god, after waiting about 5 years for it to load, I was stuck in some shitty story intro where I had to do 3 shite races just to start the main game.

I really hope F1 2022 will eventually streamline all this crap. No excuse on the new consoles to have long loading times.

Loading times have to be better on 2021, they were miles better with F1 2020 on my Series X as opposed to my base Xbox One. Can’t see how this can be anywhere near as bad as the older consoles without their SSD.

On PS5 the loading is really speedy.

It's a shame that the race calendar in this starts with all the wank tracks. I'm struggling to find the right balance and suffer from regularly binning it.

Thats what i find gooseberry fool about 2020 the gooseberry fool tracks ruin the flow of the calendar compared too the classic tracks the modern tilke tracks have no flow too them and is also why having over 20 tracks per season is overkill it becomes tedious when you get too say Japan and there is 5 more races too go and they are all tilkedromes.

One huge positive about the 2021 game though…… no Vietnam track, I’ve never actually driven such a poor track in my life :dread:

I vastly prefer Yas Marina to Sochi and Vietnam, YM produces awful racing in F1 but I don’t hate driving it on the game at least.
