Is this a proper reboot? I liked that it seemed to be more of a Shrek type of universe where lots of Fairy Tale figures exist, rather than just Albion. I remember falling for the Molyneux hype for the original Fable, and was never massively into the series beyond that, but think this will be good.

Yeah, it does look like they're taking it in a bit of a different direction based on that reveal

a combo of shrek and old fable could be a good time i think

they got a bit too lost in the one hero thing in 2 and then 3 rather than the stupid magic world with loads of hero idiots knocking about in the first

Shrek universe is a strawberry floating tragic creation, please let this be nothing like that... :dread:

This has grown on me a little since the initial reveal, still very little to glean from what they showed though - it all comes down to how it actually plays and whether they actually deliver on any of the stuff that was originally intended to be foundational to the series - choice, consequence, reactivity, lasting changes etc.

I’m glad they seem to be carrying over the humour from the previous games at least, just seeing it finally was a bit of a win in my opinion.

The OP dude seen that the game was called Fable at the CG teaser then came in here and called the thread Fable 4. He either can't read, thinks Xbox doesn't know the name of its own game.

It's a wonder anyone managed to figure out this was the thread for the new Fable.

Narrative lead Anna Megill is leaving, but insists it’s because she has “reached a good stopping point to jump off the project”.

She was also narrative lead on Control, and worked on Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.

I imagine that at this point the story is set in stone. She might have spent the last few months just twiddling her fingers whilst the team finish off bug fixing and coding.

Has there ever been a bad Fable?

Depends on your definition of “bad” I guess. 3 definitely left a lot to be desired IMO

Yeah, Fable 3 had a lot of issues. Wouldn't say it was a bad game but it wasn't a great one either.

The producer of Baldurs Gate 3 has joined playground games working on this, the game is also now in a fully playable state apparently.

I loved 1 and 2 at launch. Never played 3. Maybe I should give it a spin.

3 isn't terrible, but it's definitely the weakest one

2 > 3 > 1

Appreciate I'm probably in the minority with that opinion though. 1 (well Anniversary) just never really clicked for me.

1 and 2 are fantastic, still never got round to trying 3 and to be honest it sounds like a gaming version of marmite
