I really need to get round to playing the DLC. I bought the season pass when it was on sale as I really enjoyed this game. Would like to play the main story again with all my upgrades.

Finished it this morning. Overall enjoyable but did drag on towards the end and the end boss was a bit gooseberry fool. I'll have a bit of a break before tackling the DLC.

After recently completing the HD versions of REmake and Zero I'm after more survival horror. Is this similar to the classic Resident Evils? or is it more like PT or Silent Hill?

If I had to choose one, I'd say Silent Hill Homecoming. Definitely worth a purchase though.

Yes?

It's more like Resident Evil 4. In fact, some sections are ripped directly from it, particularly in the second half. It's from the same devs after all.

The first 6 chapters are pretty slow, picking up a bit. But I'm loving the atmosphere, setting and it's pretty difficult. If you play it like an action game (RE4) then you die pretty quickly.

It's an odd game no doubt about it. I came bloody close to giving up on it several times but persevered and managed to finish it. After I was done I couldn't decide if I enjoyed it or not as most of the game was a massive chore.

My biggest gripe with the game was where it suddenly changed pace from a stealthy horror game to a Resi 4 knock off. The game suddenly expects you to kill dozens of enemies with a half dozen bullets and a couple of crossbow bolts. Which could all have been fixed if they just let you carry a bit more ammo, the amount that got left behind was ridiculous.

You really shouldnt ever have ammo issues in the game. It gives you plenty of tools to get around the low ammo count, you can take down all the standard enemies with pretty much one bullet if you have to. Just shoot them in the leg, then stab them in the face. Simple. Or you can throw a bottle right into their face and then stab them. Its like how people use the knife in Resi 4, most people bumbling through the game will never use it but if you do get used to it itll save you so much ammo and make the game alot easier in the long run.

While I tend to agree I found that there was a trick or knack to most battles, especially the boss battles. If you didn't do it a certain way, you died or wasted loads of ammo.

It really could have done with another resource to buy ammo, rather than the luck.

Generally I find the game quite cheap. One hit kills from bosses, invisible enemies that stagger out the way, poor checkpoints (guy with a safe as a head), low syringe count and fast enemies and poor turning circle.

Finally gotten around to playing this lately and up to Chapter 5 so far.

Please tell me the totally invisible enemies aren't in the whole game? They're just ridiculously annoying and a terrible design decision.

I'm currently on Chapter 10 and I haven't seen them for a good while now.

How does this game run on PC? I already have it on PS4 and I want to play it again but I can't be doing with the gooseberry fool framerate.

On Chapter 9 of this and I think I'm about ready to just say strawberry float it with the amount of bullshit going on.
It's the mansion where the guy in the hoodie just randomly appears and insta kills you if he touches you.

Try running away? He just vanishes and appears in front of me instead. Die and go back to the start.
Run from him into a dead end room, no room to go around him. Die and go back to the start.
Manage to hide from him in a cupboard, immediately get caught in a giant grinder trap where it seems I have to shoot something, but everything I shoot does nothing. Die and go back to the start.

If there was a checkpoint or something after you evade the bad guy or collect a safe dial or something it wouldn't be so bad, but unfair instant kills with no saving and no checkpoints? At this point it just isn't feeling fun anymore.

And for a game that seems to be over harsh with ammo limits and seemingly implying it wants you to avoid combat, there's a lot of forced gunplay.

Yeah I remember that Ruvik part being slightly annoying, think I only died a couple times though. I found retreating to the stairs in the main hallway a good place to counter act his bullshit. As for the giant grinder trap, not sure which one you mean, as there are quite a few in the game but maybe quickly check a walkthrough to see what you have to shoot?

I 100% forgave that part because I realised I was playing the cancelled version of Resi 4 that was doing the round years ago.
