It's on PS3 and PS4, so expect generation 7.5 graphics.

As long as it plays as well as the clips seems to suggest I will be happy with gen 7.5 and the next game in the series can get the full next gen exclusive treatment in a few years.

Looks like a mix of Remake and Resi 4. Hook it straight up to my mummy strawberry floating veins.

The setting is kind of a mix of the mansion from Resi 1, and the police station from Resi 2, along with the view/controls from Resi 4.

I'm just hoping with Mikami in charge we get a survival horror like 1, 2, 3, Zero and Code Veronica, and not an action game like 4, 5 and 6.

Are you lumping 4,5 & 6 all in the same pot?

4 was a great game but it wasn't a survival horror in any meaningful sense. It was action game with horror bits.

Quality wise, 4 is up with the best of the series but in terms of gameplay and mechanics it belongs with 5 and 6 in the action half of the franchise rather than the survival half.

I would classify it as a happy middleground between the two genres. It wasn't horror per say, but it did have moments of terror and an incredibly tense atmosphere, something 5 and 6 completely lack. You can't say the moments in the dark after the lagoon boss or the labs at the end of the game lacked a frightening atmosphere.

Oh no, I agree, it still had horror bits and was definitely horror themed, but it wasn't survival horror, it was action horror which is what I think Nick (and certainly I) meant when I grouped 4 with 5 and 6 over the originals.

Certainly, since 4 was the, ah, progenitor of the new gameplay style. You know, this new game might have been resi if Capcom hadn't dishonoured mikami by going back on their word about the GC's 'Capcom 5', or specifically re5 on PS2. I suppose it's for the best, especially since I get to post this again -

Here's hoping that with even the power of this gen, Shjini can FINALLY sort out those door opening sequences! In the new vid, he opens a door but tellingly doesn't go through it...

Re4 is an action game. However I wouldn't even consider putting it in the same pot as 5& that bastard piece of gooseberry fool 6.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Spot on. The first time you hear the Regenerators' scratchy breathing is properly scary. And it still has some amazing jump-shocks, like Oven Man.

What a game.

But I got more scare from the Oven Man than I did for the regenerators.

It's on PS3 and PS4, so expect generation 7.5 graphics.

Is this not coming to 360 and Xbox One?

I was sure it was.

What?

I'll probably be buying this on 360 and won't be buying a new console until the first price drop at the very earliest.

Building a killer PC next month so depending on console exclusives, I might just stick with that.
