I'm excited about the updated version arriving on current gen consoles on Thursday! Thing is, I don't think that I can play it alongside Fallout 76 as the variations in controls and mechanisms could get a bit confusing. I'll still be downloading it to take a look, though.

I reinstalled 4 and a bunch of mods but something is conflicting as the game crashes whenever I try to enter Power Armour :(

I expect you to be streaming and playing both simultaneously.

I can't cross the streams, Krik!

It's great to see the range of Fallout games doing so well right now. There are tons of new players in 76 and I'm looking forward to checking out the updated Fallout 4 on Thursday.

Of course, I'm still dreaming of Fallout 3 or NV or 4 arriving on Switch but I'm not sure that's gonna happen!

I really would like to try Starfield, too, but I don't know if Microsoft would ever put that onto PlayStation.

Hopefully they'll learn from their failings with Starfield though and the next Fallout will be much better than 4!

Looking at starfield I think they misunderstood why fallout 4 was so divisive. I would love them to let obsidian have another go at the fallout series (though not rushed this time)

Feel like Obsidian have got their hands pretty full at the moment with Avowed and Outer Wilds 2 but I too would love to see them have another crack at the Fallout universe.

I wonder what time the updated game will release tomorrow? The closer we get to this, the more I'm looking forward to checking out the upgraded resolution and the frame rate.

As its free for me on gamepass, I might download it on pc and see if I can get it going in ultrawide resolution just to see what that would be like.

A mate of mine has never played a fallout and has bought fallout 4 because of the show.

All 3 are decent though. I think a lot depends on whether you're someone who has a preference for written content or someone who just wants to immersively explore/experience the setting. I've always leaned towards the latter when it comes to open-world games and FO4 just fits like a glove.

Agree with this! The rankings are definitely dependent on what aspects you are looking for.

My overall preference is NV > 3 > 76 > 4

For world/map design though I'd rank them 76 > 4 > 3 > NV

76 has easily the most varied world and 76/4 both have a lot more verticality to them which adds a lot. I really like the city in 3 but the rest of the map is comparatively weak, while New Vegas is very accurately a desert - it's the factions that make the world!

Fallout 4 really does have an incredibly crafted world to explore, it definitely has that going for it.

I'm definitely Team NV though. 17 hours in now and it's great. Only my second time playing it.

Really would like to finish Fallout and play 2 one day but Fallout 1 was broken when I last tried to play it on modern hardware. I got about ten hours in before all my saves randomly corrupted in a way where I could play for ten minutes from any save and then the game would just crash.

The map in 76 really is excellent. I'd love to carry on playing it, but I started on ps4 and there seems to be no way to transfer a save to xbox or pc.

An Obsidian Fallout with no stupid budget or deadline limits would be a dream game of mine.

Obsidian reportedly asked if they could make a Fallout game after the acquisition, no idea if anything happened but the company head wants to make one before he retires.

Can Fallout 76 be enjoyed solo or is it very much an online game? I wouldn't mind giving it a go if I can play it alone.

You can play it completely solo, and it has lots of quests that are really single player. There's group events but you can ignore them all. The maps also have very limited other players so it's quite rare to bump in to anyone without making the effort (you can see them on the map though). One thing to do, even if you have no intention of playing with anyone, is to team up in a group (just a menu option really, you don't have to be near them). Being in a group gives you perks like xp boosts, extra damage against certain enemy types etc. Well worth doing. Also other players are really nice in it, they always seem to help you out.

You can play it fine on your own, I do prefer the other Fallout games that are crafted SPECIFICALLY around single player though. I jumped back in recently (as the TV show was excellent) and enjoyed it but VATS doesn't slow down time like the other games which can be annoying. I jumped into Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 over the last week, I will say Fallout 3 has a more interesting start than NV but my god, both play soooo good (and the 60fps boost helps as does the 4K in F3).

I'm gonna jump into Fallout 4 after the update but I may head back to Fallout 3 if F4 doesn't grab me.
