You can set up vending stations at your camp that other players can use, not sure what interaction there is beyond that. I don't think it's like Ark where other players can just wreck your stuff.

I was wondering if Jawa hangs around and hands out trinkets to passers by (I think I read about that being a thing).

I'm guessing not though - he's probably too busy playing Balan.

Yes... and yes! Fallout 76 is online and any player can visit your camp and look around. I love the creation process and, for me, that is gaming in itself :-).

kazanova_Frankenstein wrote:...I only ask it seems like you put a massive amount of time and effort in to these creations...

I do put hours and hours into building. It's super addictive!

kazanova_Frankenstein wrote:...As always great work anyways.

Thanks, man!

Absolutely! I visit other peoples' camps just to look around and see what they're selling. You can also use some objects and crafting benches; even taek drinks if they are available. Oh, and... unfortunately there are ways to wreck camps! I don't know how to but some players can setup some objects that damage camps; you've got to be a bit of an ass to do that, but there are such people around. Thankfully I haven't experienced it myself!

Yes! You can hand out (drop) items for other players. High-level/experienced players often drop things for newer players to use.

Your camps are hugely impressive, Jawa. While that creation aspect doesn’t really interest me, it’s great that games cater to all our preferences. I can say that if I ever stumble across one of your camps, I’ll have no choice but to trash it - that’s determined by fate - but I’ll be genuinely sorry.

It’s only right, given how much Jawa loves Mad Max. He can’t expect the wasteland to be all peace and love. Bloody hippy.

That reminds me, can you trash Animal Crossing islands yet?

And if so - Jawa, I have sent you a friend request.

I played a little of this on Series X after work today since there was a free pack of loot to redeem on Gamepass. I’ve mostly just been going through the main quests but I’ve actually built a proper house this time instead of the tent surrounded by workstations I had on PS4 :D

I'd put something like 70 hours in to the ps4 version, but started again on the xbox last weekend. Speed running the early quests as much as I'd possible to get on to some areas I didn't make it to before.

The camp controls have really been improved since I played it years ago, especially the free camera so you can actually see where things are being placed now.

I want to find Jawa's camp!

Great stuff, Cumberdanes! Camp-building isn't everybody's cup of tea but, if it sucks you in, it can be addictive. I'm looking forward to seeing a few pics of your builds :-).

Victor Mildew wrote:...The camp controls have really been improved since I played it years ago, especially the free camera so you can actually see where things are being placed now...

Yeah, it took me a wee while to get usec to the "free camera" build mode but it is handy. I tend to switch between the two build modes (free camera and first person) depending on the item that I'm placing.

Victor Mildew wrote:...I want to find Jawa's camp!

Hehe, unfortunately the game doesn't have cross-platform play so my camps are PlayStation-only. Maybe one day that could change.

Oh, and... you can have more than one camp! I think all players can have two whilst you can get up to ten by buying additional camp slots. This is fantastic for major builders as you don't have to tear down your camp after spending hours/days creating it. Well, not quite as often, anyway :-).

EDIT: Each additional camp requires fresh resources to build it, though.

Oh no I doubt it’s worthy of pictures it’s just a basic 3 squares by 3 squares wooden affair. Nowt fancy

EDIT: I did figure out how to get electricity into my house which was less than intuitive so now I have a light up movie poster on my wall.

All camps are worthy, dude! It's great that you've started out on the building trail 8-) .

Yeah, for most lights you just need an active electric point to be within around two floor tile spaces of the light. Some items require a direct connection to a power point (tougher turrets, street lights and water purifiers as an example) but they show an electric symbol in their description if so.

Servers for this just went down for maintenance suddenly and there’s a large update to install.

Yeah, maintenance was scheduled for 15:00, dude. Update is around 19 Gb on consoles and patch notes are due shortly. No major update had been announced so it'll be interesting to discover what has changed.

Edit: Server status can be checked at the Bethesda Portal site.

I've completed my new build on on the Ash Heap. The unique aspect with this one was utilising the stone steps to create stairways to the upper floors... which you can't do as standard. It turned out pretty neat.
