That's some serious work you've put into that. Nice.

Having played the game I'm aware of how time consuming it can be. I got as far as installing a lightbulb in my tiny shack that I couldn't get to work.

Gem, thanks... you don't know how good it is to hear that this morning! Last night some guy on Discord messaged me to say that my camps are all the same and that I just change a few things each time. I was chuckling to myself just thinking why would someone go out of their way to post something like that when we've never spoken before  .

Yeah, it takes time to learn how the building system works and how things fit together, Gemini. It is a quirky system at times but also kinda amazing considering that you're building in a large, online multiplayer world. Maybe you could give it another go some time?

Because "gamers" can be real jerks at times.

I've considered jumping back in since restarting it on the Series S, but I've too much other stuff going on at the moment.

I created a more open kinda camp in the Forest area. It incorporates an existing building that has a NPC based in it.

I like the multiple levels on that one jawa.

Does this mean anyone wanting to talk to the NPC on your instance will have to go through your base?

Thanks, OR. I was pleased with how it turned out :-).

Yeah, the NPC is a guy that looks out from the top of the tower. There are bits and pieces that appear in the tower that I can scrap, too.

I'm close to finishing my new camp out on the Ash Heap and I'm pretty excited about this one! There's a way to go but things are progressing well so far. If I can get the lighting just so, it'll look neat. I hope to share it tonight!

Is the flame-breathing bird and the Christmas tree just a tad too much for the grime of the Ash Heap? .

Merry Christmas, GRcadians, from here in the Toxic Valley! Even in the wasteland we can be a tad gaudy and crazy in the holidays :-).

Honestly 76 might be the best Fallout just for having Mothman

Yeah, he's a great character. It wasn't until I'd been playing the game for some time that I learnt that Mothman is a real legend/myth!

I'm just finishing off a new camp out on the western river and - although it's dreadfully poor form to say it about one's own camp! - it really rocks. I discovered a way of using the end (small) perimeter fencing which has previously been unusable in the game for many months... and it makes for great balcony edging.

I think the thing I love about building in this game is the on-going learning; every time I make a camp I feel like I've picked up something new about the process.

That's probably one of the surprising good things about the building system. It's awkward and fiddly, but there's also like a genuine skill in both plotting out what can be built and in executing the building. I really like how grounded building from a first person perspective is too, it's much more engaging for me than if it went out into an overhead view or something and you were just using a cursor.

Yeah, it sure can be a bit clunky and even obtuse at times... but it's amazing to see what can be made; perhaps more so when you consider that it's a multiplayer online game. I agree about the first-person building perspective; it just feels kinda "real" as you gradually create your camp.

I've just finished my latest camp and I just love the flow and feel of the rooms. It has helped that I've discovered a workaround for using the seemingly impossible-to-use half-perimeter wooden fencing. It has enabled me to build the edges around the half-width flooring areas that you can see in these photos. I will definitely be keeping this camp for a while :-) . Thankfully, as I have purchased extra camp build slots, I can have up to five camps at any one time. This is a lovely feature for folk who enjoy building!

For my final build before Christmas, I've settled into this comfortable camp in the heart of the Forest; putting up my feet and relaxing on a warm night.

Seen this on Amazon for £3.99, is it worth it? I know the game was panned when it first came out, but i've also heard it's a lot better now.

Liking that Jawa house too!

I've built a new camp in the Ash Heap and I'm just setting up the furnishings. I'm really pleased with the layout and the lighting so far  . I hope to share some finished shots either tonight or tomorrow.

New year, new camp! I'm out living in the dirt of the Ash Heap; one can still build a cosy dwelling.

I returned to the Forest area to create a camp that would be cosy and welcoming. I do like the small balcony area; it's perfect for sitting down to look over the valley.

I challenged myself to create a camp in this small area next to a rock face. I love packing detail into compact builds and this one feels good to explore.
