There is little point in fighting others in Fallout76 so it's non existant in that regard, population is pretty good too, another bonus of it being on gamepass.

So much, Pattybean! I would like to have the option to share my game profile across differing formats (i.e. in case I moved over to Xbox in the future) but unfortunately I think the barrier is the purchased in-game items; the console platform holders won't allow items to be transferred if they weren't purchased on that particular infrastructure.

It's a pain as there is no way I'd want to start again after spending over two years and hard cash on the game!

Funnily enough, I've moved my camp to morgantown too as I'm currently doing a quest line that involves the top of the world, so its a nice fast travel point for me. Still rocking my slightly modified shack from the very start of the game, although I might need to expand it a little with all my crafting benches ivr got going on. Might have to add an upper level or something.

Just hit level 40, and suddenly all the enemies have become massive bullet sponges.

That’s some excellent work Jawa. If I can find a way of getting on line on PS4 without resubbing for a month I’d love to pop in and visit.

Still my favourite game that I expected nothing from.

Ah! Is that the quest that involves the raider robot? I started it, too, but only did the first couple of steps do I have to get back to it!

I would love to see a pic or two of your camp(s)! Only if and when you want to, of course! It's always cool seeing how folk take different approaches to building.

Oh, man, yes. As part of the "enemy levelling" the game did - imho - become a lot tougher for players in the level 30 through 50 range. I've just hit level 50 and things are slightly better. I also re-jigged my perk cards by selecting more "fighting" ones than "food"/"building" ones.

Ta, Pattybean! Yeah, there is that PS Plus cost to consider and, tbh, I find the monthly game sub to be key, too - I just love the scrap box facility and the private servers!

That quest line at the Top of the World seemed absolutely endless, I think a couple send you there. Spent a fortune in caps fast travelling to that bloody thing :x

I finally finished that quest line last night, and the last time you think you're done and you get a "Hey sweetie, go over here now and find 5 more of these" I actually shouted, "Oh my god strawberry float off!". That part really is a piss take in padding.

Just horrendous. I feel you about the enemies too, I never felt the developers got the balance right between giving you a challenge and making you feel empowered as you level up and find half-decent guns. The game felt like almost a literal job, especially running after that robo-bitch.

True, Buffalo. It wasn't always like that; for the first eighteen months or so the enemy levels varied according to the areas you visited on the map. This made sense - you visited certain areas as a lower-level player and generally stayed away from areas that you knew contained higher-level enemies. Then "enemy levelling" was brought in and, across the entire game map, enemy levels match your own. As a level 50 player I now have to tackle level 50 enemies in the Forest (starting) area - it's ridiculous.

The trouble is that many players are massively hardcore (their character levels are in the hundreds) and they have ultra high-powered weapons and more materials than they know what to do with... and I feel that the game is tailored for them rather than lower-level players. It seems that the game is hardest for players who are level 25 to 49.

But, even though the game is so frustrating in that aspect, I still pour hours into it because I just enjoy exploring and building. I've recently ventured out into the smoky, desolate Ash Heap area and building a few camps there has been great :) .

It's the super mutants that are the worst at the moment, because there always seems to be at least 10 of them, and a few of those are always really high level and wielding a minigun or something.

Those floating alien things though, for strawberry float sake. Impossible to kill now.

I got hit by a nuke last night. Someone launched one and for once it was somewhere I could get to, so I fast travelled to have a look. My logic being, travel to the area, run outside the blast zone and look at it. Nope, nuke to the head as soon as I arrived :fp:

Yeah, groups of virtually any enemy type are tough now. I used to be able to visit the water park as a level 20-ish player and make my way through it, duffing up all the ghouls. Now, even as a level 50 player, it's mission impossible - I run out of bullets and health after tackling the first three or four ghouls.

:lol: . I haven't been hit by a nuke yet but I have visited the area a few times after a hit. You have to wear power armour or (as I do) wear a protective suit with gas mask. You often find high-level payers tackling scorch beasts and stuff in the aftermath.

Oh, and you probably know this, but if your camp is ever in the nuke area then log off quickly before it strikes. If your camp is destroyed you'll need to splash out large amounts of materials to repair everything.

Made more progress quest wise this morning, and have seemingly been given a choice to get either the raiders or settles on board to break in to vault 79 for the treasure.

Rather incredibly, I've just realised I'm following the settlers expansion quest line, and have been for some time now (with all the overseer stuff). What the hell was even in this game when it launched then?! :lol: If all these npcs and quest lines weren't in, it must have been a pretty barren and daily event focused game.

I'm at level 47 now.

Hee! At launch - and for the first sixteen months - the game was quite different; there were no human characters in the game bar the actual players. It was a quieter world with robots and messages, rather than people, forming your contact points in the campaign. Things started to change when the Wastelanders update arrived in April last year. New buildings and people were introduced and the campaign started to become more like that of Fallout 3 and 4.

I liked the quieter, desolate world that existed at launch but the gameworld is now more vibrant with the new characters.

Oh, and all of the original quests still exist in the game but with the new campaign and missions layered on top - it works quite well!

Nice - you're gonna be shooting past me soon, Ad! I'm level 50 but most of my XP progress has been achieved through wandering around and building rather than missions so you've probably got better weapons and kit than I have :-).

There were a few NPCs but they were just the robots. The main quest was about discovering what had happened to Appalachia and the various factions and following the overseer's trail in securing the nukes - I think they might have reworked this so for new players the new content is blended in? I certainly never had any focus on daily events!
