Yo as you requested Adam.
This is the mod manager that I use: Vortex
https://www.nexusmods.com/about/vortex/?
This is the script extender, lets you have more complex mods:
http://nvse.silverlock.org/
All you need to know about this is just to follow these instructions below:
"Installation
1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Fallout NV directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\. If you see files named FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher.exe, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod.
2. Launch NV via running nvse_loader.exe. Enabling the Steam Community option (enabled by default) will allow you to launch the game via Steam's standard UI."
Project Nevada:

* Grenade Hotkey
* Variable Zoom for scoped weapons
* Slower Backpedaling
* First-person Visor Overlays for helmets
* Immersive Health Visuals
NMCs texture pack. Makes the game look a lot better.

THE BEST MOD, The Weather Mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998
This mod is one of my favourites, it adds duststorms to the game. You can alter their frequency in the menu, but I prefer to turn it on and off to my liking from the mod configuration menu. Leaving it on a lot of the time is my favourite, the large open spaces become claustrophobic and terrifying at times, and when I get a little too oppressed by the patriarchal weather and my soggy knees just can't take it, I turn it off to enjoy the landscape and carry on.
Remember that quarry with the big deathclaws? Try doing that with a dust storm on. Enemy vision is also affected, nothing like stumbling across a deathclaw that was only 10 metres in front of you but you couldn't see him, and breathing a huge sigh of relief when you realise he still hasn't spotted you because the dust storm is nuts. The hellscape and dust storm together is my favourite, just a hellish apocalypse for you to explore. You can change it all from ingame no need to load or reload anything.
EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42666
New Crit Kill animation scenes, HD blood fx, HD fire fx, HD explosions, new bullet impacts, energy wep projectiles & impacts, unrivaled textures, and more.
A World Of Pain - This mod is amazing, adds a ton of content that fits in the world, makes it even more fun to explore especially if you've done one playthrough already of the game unmodded:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38719
Adds about 170 new & intense locations to the wasteland filled with enemies and loot. They vary from small Gas Stations to huge maze-like sewers and derelict factories. Adds several days of new gameplay possibilities. Filled with quests, NPCs with dialogue, vendors and some of the toughest enemies you will ever encounter.
There's a ton of mods, I recommend you go here:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/topalltime/?adult=2
Those are the top mods of all time, and download as many of the anti stutter and compatibility anti crash patches if you can, I don't do any mods that require anything extra than this, if it might conflict or needs anything extra I just pass on it.
Have fun. Stay Christian. Vote Trump.
