Yo as you requested Adam.

This is the mod manager that I use: Vortex
https://www.nexusmods.com/about/vortex/?

This is the script extender, lets you have more complex mods:

http://nvse.silverlock.org/

All you need to know about this is just to follow these instructions below:
"Installation
1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Fallout NV directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\. If you see files named FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher.exe, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod.

2. Launch NV via running nvse_loader.exe. Enabling the Steam Community option (enabled by default) will allow you to launch the game via Steam's standard UI."

Project Nevada:

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40040?tab=images

* Grenade Hotkey
* Variable Zoom for scoped weapons
* Slower Backpedaling
* First-person Visor Overlays for helmets
* Immersive Health Visuals

NMCs texture pack. Makes the game look a lot better.

Mod Configuration Menu
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42507

THE BEST MOD, The Weather Mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998

This mod is one of my favourites, it adds duststorms to the game. You can alter their frequency in the menu, but I prefer to turn it on and off to my liking from the mod configuration menu. Leaving it on a lot of the time is my favourite, the large open spaces become claustrophobic and terrifying at times, and when I get a little too oppressed by the patriarchal weather and my soggy knees just can't take it, I turn it off to enjoy the landscape and carry on.

Remember that quarry with the big deathclaws? Try doing that with a dust storm on. Enemy vision is also affected, nothing like stumbling across a deathclaw that was only 10 metres in front of you but you couldn't see him, and breathing a huge sigh of relief when you realise he still hasn't spotted you because the dust storm is nuts. The hellscape and dust storm together is my favourite, just a hellish apocalypse for you to explore. You can change it all from ingame no need to load or reload anything.

EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42666
New Crit Kill animation scenes, HD blood fx, HD fire fx, HD explosions, new bullet impacts, energy wep projectiles & impacts, unrivaled textures, and more.

A World Of Pain - This mod is amazing, adds a ton of content that fits in the world, makes it even more fun to explore especially if you've done one playthrough already of the game unmodded:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38719
Adds about 170 new & intense locations to the wasteland filled with enemies and loot. They vary from small Gas Stations to huge maze-like sewers and derelict factories. Adds several days of new gameplay possibilities. Filled with quests, NPCs with dialogue, vendors and some of the toughest enemies you will ever encounter.

There's a ton of mods, I recommend you go here:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/topalltime/?adult=2
Those are the top mods of all time, and download as many of the anti stutter and compatibility anti crash patches if you can, I don't do any mods that require anything extra than this, if it might conflict or needs anything extra I just pass on it.

Have fun. Stay Christian. Vote Trump.

Thanks Silva!

Context for everyone else: I played new Vegas on the ps3 when it came out, and decided to but it and play again on pc as I never finished the DLC and fancied a proper fallout game after finishing the other worlds.

Dead Money. Holy gooseberry fool, if you haven't done that DLC, you have recording equipment, you should do a 'lets play' of that dlc. Or if you got a beefy pc, you should record as you play, stitch the best bits of the game together to show those folks who keep saying New Vegas is empty compared to fallout 3, how much content there is to the game.

Also:

New Vegas Strip OPEN
:D This restores the strip so it doesn't have load times in between, it's one seamless strip, with people walking around getting drunk and strippering around.

OJO Bueno Textures:
Really do add to the game world.

Make sure to grab the stutter remover mod, makes everything feel so much smoother than the default experience

Thanks again silva, I look forward to giving this a go. And I will be getting a stutter mod as it's got some funny performance issues.

I previously played old world blues, dead money and another one (I think) I went to do the Zion one and the ps3 was hard crashing a lot, plus the performance was terrible late in the game, so I just gave up. It's so nice playing it now with decent resolution and frame rate, and that's before mods. I'm playing it on my big tv via stream link :datass:

Went with the wild wasteland perk as I've not had that before and I've read it adds some fun things. Already seen Indiana Jones in a fridge

And damn it's a tough game early on. I'm trying to head to the north side of the strip to start the caravan dlc and heading up from goodspring was just impossible becuase of the cazadors :dread: Went East of there, bam deathclaw quarry, so ive had to go all the way south to nipon, then east a bit to join a motorway which I'll follow north. I've got my prima hardback collectors guide that I got bought back at launch but never really used, so I'll be using the fold out map this time to pick a few places to head to.

Fallout  (not 4 or 76 obviously)

You don't HAVE to kill the cazadores, but if you have explosives from exploring the abandoned mine around town and doing the first quest, even without the explosives perk, a bit of sneaking and a bit of blowing gooseberry fool up from a distance works wonders.

Those Cazadores are just about strong enough to deter most players but if knock em dead, they help power level you a few levels early on to be able to deal with them.

I too ended up breaking out and going north, I managed to explore the whole wasteland before I got to Nipton which was funny, because when I read everyone elses playthroughs, they went straight to nipton after the first town.

New Vegas Enhanced Content
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44204

Invisible Wall Remover
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42285

New Vegas Uncut Freeside Open
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/46355
This mod with open strip is sick. No more console limitations.

New Vegas Uncut - Outside Bets
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/46648

Again more cut content restored, content that was cut to meet console limitations. It's a ton of small little gooseberry fool that just adds to the little things in the game that add 'feel' to it.

Overview

Outside Bets is the latest in the New Vegas Uncut series of mods. The primary aims of the mod are to restore and collate minor pieces of cut content that would be too small to demand their own seperate mods, to restore all the NPCs removed by Obsidian's patching process, and to fix a few minor bugs that prevent content in the vanilla game from working correctly.
This mod restores a number of cut scenes and scenarios that were left unfinished in the game code. These include sequences involving Mr House and the Lucky 38, Camp forlorn Hope, the 188 Trading Post, and more. Since the original retail version of the game, successive official patches to fix bugs have also removed a large number of unimportant NPCs primarily to keep console saved game and memory issues to a minimum. Pc players have far less restrictions on these counts, so this mod takes advantage of more powerful hardware to deliver a more interesting game experience based on what was once in the game but since removed. For a full list of things that have been restored, check the version history.

Selected mod Features of interest:

Lucky 38/Mr House

Restored - Mr House will now taunt/attempt to reason with the player during their attack on his control room, or if the player has destroyed the Fort Securitrons and enters the Lucky 38.

Restored - Victor will now confront the player in the Lucky 38 if the fort Securitrons are destroyed for one final duel.

Restored - The player will now be warned to stay away from Mr House's secret room terminal.

Restored - Upon his death, Mr House's obituary message will be broadcast in the Strip, explaining how everyone knows he is dead.

Camp Forlorn Hope/Nelson

Restored - Random battles now once again take place in the no-man's land between camps.

Restored - Maimed and booby-trapped NCR troopers can now once again be found in the no-man's land between camps.

Restored - a huge number of NPCs that were disabled in both camps. Attacking either side will now be more difficult.

Restored - Post attack events. If 'We Are Legion' is successfully completed, The Legion storm the camp and kill anyone left, and dump the bodies in a mass grave in the graveyard. After two days it will then be infested by Cazadores. Nelson will now actually be occupied by NCR troops if they take the location back.

Camp McCarran

Restored - Camp McCarran now has a unique sentry bot that patrols the perimeter.

Restored - Huge number of disabled NCR guards on the walls.

Restored - Obstacle course troopers and drill sergeant

New feature - There were leftover push up markers clearly intended for NCR troops. They are now used by new troops and a new drill sergeant.

El Dorado Substation

Restored - Completing this stage of the Yes Man or House main quests will now lead to a previously deleted scene where the player watches the Lucky 38's lights turning on now the reactor is restarted.

188 Trading Post

Restored - a large number of disabled NPCs, many with new unique dialogue

New Feature - a dedicated beggar character using dialogue that was previously incredibly hard to trigger.

Misc

Restored - MANY (we're talking triple figures) disabled NPCs and enemies restored.

Fixed - Securitron dialogue now plays correctly, unlocking the missing 2/3rds of their dialogue that could never be played before due to various condition errors and the absence of the "random" function on their lines.

What's New

V1.4

- Restored Cass' Whiskey Rose perk barks. She will now make a comment when the player drinks whiskey in her presence as was originally intended.

- Fixed combat barks for Omertas, Fiends, Boomers, Followers of the Apocalypse, Super Mutants.

- Fixed up a few companion combat barks that weren't randomised

- Mr House's "introduce yourself" dialogue will no longer play if the player has failed House's questline.

- Restored lots of disabled Boomers in the mess hall at Nellis.

- Restored an unused Boulder City Worker. He has a single unique dialogue line.

- Moved Meyers speech to take place closer to Primm. This should be less disorientating and hopefully more compatible with mods that add more enemies to the game.

- Fixed bug where the objective to follow the Securitron to watch the Lucky 38 relight would not be marked as completed on the Yes Man questline.

- Gave cut note to Black Mountain NCR trooper.

- Restored all NPCs watching the President's speech at Hoover dam.

I put this gooseberry fool to max, turn on dust storms, hellscape weather, and enjoy the ride. I love the scipted narrative and all that in New Vegas, but I love random gooseberry fool too.

Hi $ilva! :)

Ad, you can also get the game to run in VR if you fancy it.

I quite like his videos, but I can see why his style doesn't appeal to everyone.

I'm tempted to try and get it set up to see how it works, but it sounds like it's a lot of work for a game that still won't work as a proper VR set up.

LOL Knoyles, my life would be strawberry floating over if I had VR. Jesus christ, it must be amazing on VR, especially with all the adult stuff modded into the game and tubs and tubs of coconut oil at hand.

How much of a beast of a PC would one need to get your recommended mods working Silva? I have a laptop that runs vanilla NV fairly well at medium settings.

There's a mod which combines Fallout 3 and New Vegas so you can travel between the two maps at will. Of course your character becomes incredibly overpowered very quickly.

okay seems to work if I disable all the mods, so that's promising at least. Will try reinstalling the mods. I also have no idea what I'm doing and got a few error messages the previous time that I ignored.
