I need to try 4 again. I loved 3, and I loved 5 and New Dawn, but for some reason couldn't get into 4.

I love the look of this, it looks insane. 3,4 and 5 have all been too similar for me. Sure the mechanics are the same, but I like the look.

I got bored of 3,4 and 5 pretty early.

Just seen that this little known indie shooter, from publishing underdogs Ubisoft, is in danger of flying under the radar - it's out this week!

I haven't seen much about this at all in recent weeks/months, has there been any recent, decent previews or anything?

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

I'll probably be getting it at some point. Far Cry games definitely have a formula to them by now, but I still enjoy them.

Gonna wait till I finish Deathloop then see where I can get it cheapest.

Pre ordered it digitally for PlayStation 5.

I like what I've seen in previews. The idea of collecting clothes for sets and additional skill boosts sounds like fun and I love the weapons in the series. Not bothered about tht animal buddies or the overall story. Just want to raid camps and use my flamethrower, bow, grenade launcher and massive machine gun.

I really like Far Cry, so I’ll definitely be picking this up and to be honest I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m not expecting too many changes to the formula, of course, but on the other hand I’m pretty sure I’m going to enjoy what it is, which is reassuring.

God I’m getting old. I swear I didn’t use to enjoy ‘reassuring’ games.

It's now downloading on PSN.

I watched a stream yesterday and it's more of the same Far Cry but with better graphics. Plus a lot more weapons and weapon variants.

I have never played a Far Cry game. Are they actually good? I always mix them up with Just Cause (a series i also have never played).

Since Far Cry 3 they've basically been releasing the same game over and over again. I'll get them for free in a bundle or whatever, play them for a couple of hours, then never play them again.

I think 4 is probably the best - they really nailed vertical exploration with the grappling hook. Lot of collectibles but they were usually a pleasure to look for.
5 was too big, and you could get locked out of story missions. Always a negative, to me.

They are literally all the same. Far cry 1 and 2 were alright back in the day. Farcry 3 was pretty good and arguably 4 is the peak (but after the first farcry they are all very similar).

I’m sure it will look nice. But there are plenty of new/original and great games around to be playing the same game with a fresh lick of paint.

My cheap £40 PlayStation5 version came through the post today - looking forward to installing.

The type of sandbox pick up and play for 20 minutes is ideal for my lifestyle (soul sucking kids) now so shallow be they come.

Eurogamers review basically said that it's not doing too much new, but that if you enjoy Far Cry then you're on course for another good one.

Oh, and a really good review from GameCentral too! That’s an ‘8’ from them, so really promising - they’re not perfect, but their reviews tend to be in line with my own preferences as a rule.

Expensive weekend with this and Metroid :dread: , though.

Got £10 off by using those Ubi coin things. Had no idea you could use those for anything other than in-game items.

Took me a while to get into this tonight. Opening is ok but not exactly groundbreaking. It leads onto a couple of ok missions and then you get the first supremo weapon (back pack) and a handmade weapon. It all comes together from there with plenty of action and finding loot.

As many reviews have mentioned, ammo system is very very poor. So you need to equip a weapon with a set type of ammo, like armour piercing, but you can only do this at benches and then it's set until you go back. Enemies very weak to one specific type so rather than playing as your preference with guns it's a case of having one type of weapon ammo for different enemies.

Supremo backpack is a nice idea but the full game feels like it's going in assassin's creed's direction of adding RPG mechanics so they can sell loot in thr digital store.

I’ve just got the Supremo, so about the same point as you I think, Godzilla. But, I really enjoyed the start - as you say, it’s really standard stuff, although I thought the initial escape sequence was pretty well done albeit with no actual challenge at all, but I have had good fun.

The ammo thing seems a bit of an odd choice but I reckon it will work out ok; I’ve already got my load out sorted with one gun with armour- piercing rounds, one with normal, and it looks like there’s plenty of space on that weapons wheel! Hopefully it won’t interfere with the game too much.

For me, it’s a really promising start.
