This is fantastic!

Feels so good on PS5, burning things and using Guapo.

Beautiful game too, with a few minor rough edges here and there.

Found a legendary shotgun accidentally, which burns everything. Finding that thing was reminiscent of Elder Scrolls where the gear is hiding out there in the world.

I'd been cautiously excited about this with the reveal of the new setting and Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, however the reviews sound like its just more of the same rather than a real step forward. I loved 3 and enjoyed 4 as it was basically the same game. I really disliked 5 which I ended up abandoning having hit yet another difficulty spike with one of the bunker levels for one of the siblings. I might check this out when it's cheap, but it's a shame that this isn't the refresh the series is due.

I found that shotgun too. Looks great and sets people on fire. Dream combination.

Loads and loads of things to collect for upgrades. It's good that you only need to unlock/buy a mod once for weapon types and then just apply it.

I've not upgraded much apart from my flamethrower once to use less fuel.

It's a fantastic gun! I'm tempted to retire my flamethrower and use the shotgun exclusively.

I kind of miss the hunting animals for skins to upgrade pouches, weapon holsters etc. I know it was busy work somewhat, but I found it fun. Haven't found any perk systems yet so I'm not sure if that is gone too, might miss that also.

Still it's a very fresh, back to basics kind of FPS which is incredibly refreshing.

How does this compare to 5, specifically the encounter rate when free roaming? I'm assuming (hoping) it doesn't kidnap you into story missions either?

That was one of the main issues I had with 5, endless enemies out of nowhere.

That has been dramatically improved here. I've had multiple skirmishes out on the roads, and had no one else show up.

Occasionally one or two vans with one or two guys will show up but it is nowhere near as bad as 5.

You can mess up an outpost and disable the alarms without random backup arriving.

I'm not far enough to say about being kidnapped into story missions yet, but it hasn't happened so far.

Sounds great, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear! This can go on the list

ACG review is spot on, as are most of his.

I'm really enjoying it and the perk system had been replaced by equipment which had perks (get more loot, more ammo, less poison damage) and also perks can be applied to the back pack to get more options like grenades or throwing knives, more ammo etc.

It seems to work well and I guess it'll lead to builds being created for specific situations. Like scavenging, raiding and stealth.

I am looking forward to playing this tomorrow, I didn’t think I had ever played a far cry game but looking down my Xbox profile I had far cry 4 but I don’t really remember it so I must not have played it very much

I really need to spend some time in the highest difficulty area and find some good guns. I'm doing terribly in most battles.
