Anything from Wind Waker gets my vote. I thought it had a beautiful soundtrack.

I'd tend to resist Nintendo going fully orchestrated as their games would lose that classic Nintendo sound in my opinion.

I love the music of the first two Monkey Island games. I had the CD version of the first game and you could listen to it seperately as an album - fantastic.

That is what battle music should sound like.

Agreed. :) The whole game is full of memorable tunes, but this one I'd say is among the best (and it's a brilliant boss fight, too):

Twilight Princess had some fantastic tracks as well, foremost among them the Faron Woods theme...

It depends on the instruments they use for the tracks, really. I wouldn't want a full orchestra for each area, as some places really only need two or three instruments to have a nice track going.

Nice to see a bit of Koh Ohtani in here! Forgot all about Shadow Of The Colossus. I wish Lakeside would last for a few minutes rather than thirty second !

Some of the battle music was absoltuley awe inspired! I think it's the fourth or fifth battle, but the strings just make it so immense! Imagine battling the fecker with no music. It just makes it so intense.

7th Collosus - absolutely beautiful work!

I love Game Music. Listening to the music from a specific game reminds me how great playing it was when I don't get time to play through that game again.

Music makes a game! Particularly RPGs and story based affairs.

I've always been a fan of Venus Lighthouse from Golden Sun:

:)

The Hong Kong music from Deus Ex is amazing too!

Fair play that's pretty sweet as well. Might just have to pick up a 360 so I can play it (one of the many games tempting me).

Mute City from F-Zero I always thought was very catchy back in the day, now its all about RPG's as far as music is concerned.

Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future

Another Music thread, and another Tim Follin post from me. Possibly THE most chilled piece of music to ever go into a game. So good in fact, that's it's been my alarm ringtone for the past 5 years.

Soul Edge

Back in the days when Namco used to produce great music. Bring Back Khan's Super Session, dammit!

The Broken Sword games have fantastic music - then they would, it's done by the same bloke who does the brilliant Morse & Lewis.

Uncharted's Theme is bloody good too.

Planescape Torment.
Utterly unique.

And from one extreme to the other. The deeply wonderful Cannon Fodder (and music video thereof!)

The intro of the demo of RRT4 had a far superior track to that shite.

What's the point of alarm that's not alarming?
