I don't think EA would struggle to convert people to a new rebranded game if they lost the license, providing they still keep the ability to use the real players and clubs and don't fall back to some Pro Evo style London FC nonsense.

It's never going to work and Fifa are more likely to cost themselves money than they are increase profits with this tactic. In truth, EA and Fifa will probably negotiate a sensible settlement and things will continue as they are.
Jeff Grubb reporting that EA and FIFA will be parting ways, EA to rebrand their game EA Sports FC whilst FIFA will look elsewhere to get a new game with their name on it.
This could kill ultimate team couldn't it? Most people like it because it's like top trumps in terms of collecting your favourite players, but if it's just fake name players is anyone going to care?

They’ll keep the real players because they’ll still have the FIFPRO license.
