"Follow the robed men". It's never overly clear why or how or if it's right, or how they're actually moving (did they all get the boat).

It was flimsy in the main game where it was 5-10 hours at most, but it's paper thin as the "main drive" for a 70 hour game - especially when it disappears to the back ground for hours so you can do another one of the 30 mini games.

hmm i wonder if there’s any plot significance to cloud just being being drawn to the same path the robed men are on with very little explanation hmm hmmm hmmmmm

No FFVII spoilers if you know the original story, but for what happens/doesn't happen Rebirth

That's not answer. Not is Tifa's "Cloud was never in Niblehiem" (80 hours ago). Or who Zack is and why he/Cloud are coming to Midgar.
It's an awful game if you don't know the main story

Hojo basically says something about cloud following his brothers and alludes to Sephiroth drawing cloud to him

Hojo definitely get my vote as the most vile and most hated character out of them all in the FFVII world. Even Sepiroth don't like the man.

This game absolutely nails the world and characters of FF7, and the battle system is one of the best around. There are probably genuine criticisms that can be discussed, but it's an absolute 10/10 for me.

I really enjoy the world and characters of this and Remake for what they are, but for me one thing I think it has really struggled with is the fact it doesn't capture the same character and tone of the original. To me it feels like there's something fundamental about how that first game presented it's world and cast that they have struggled to recapture

I haven't played Rebirth, but I totally agree about Rebirth. I felt like there were times that it did capture the tone of the original, a lot of the time it didn't.

I think it's mostly audio based for me. The soundscapes he created for the original game had a lot of weight to them. The new versions fell a bit flat for me personally.

Does the plot in rebirth finally establish the actual lack of rivalry between Cloud and Sephiroth given that they are both more workplace acquaintances?

Just reached Cosmo Canyon after what seemed like a neverending quest to find all the world intels in gongaga... As others have said, while it is beautiful, it is a bitch to move around and find the routes to access stuff.

Chadley is insanely annoying to a the point where I insta-skip all his parts.

I never like the idea of the game being separated into 3 different games, it sounded like milking the franchise from day 1 and both in remake and rebirth it feels that way, as there is much more filler than story.

Content wise I feel much better served by this than Remake - although it definitely does still feel like excessive padding at times

I like chadley character wise, I just wish him and mai didn't ring you up all the damn time

I've not encountered anything I'd consider filler so far, just at the saucer though

For me the lifesprings, fiend intels and excavation sites feel like a bit of a chore..... and I feel like I cannot move to a new area if I dont 100% the current area. The protorelics on the other hand, since they change from one area to another dont feel as forced (Still not liking the fact that you cannot interact with these areas unless chadley marks them on your map).

They're all optional though, you could just ignore them.

There's none of the "run through a sewer for 3 hours' stuff in the main story so far.

Completed now, still have lots of mini games to get perfect scores, doubt I will do them all. Will do the last armour missions and I have one side quest to do but it's mini game related.

Yeah, I went back to wrap up some of the last things I was missing, but realised it was just a huge grind that was left, so I'll probably call it there.

This chocobo gliding mini game is so strawberry floating random.

I divebombed and pull up, sometimes I will get high enough for the next part but most of the time I can’t get high enough.

Sick of this bullshit.

I hate it.... Kind of slowed down after reaching Cosmo Canyon due to this....

I think I might just get on with the main story and green quests and finish it.

This is a green quest.

Also there’s a green quest where it ends with the piano mini game.
