It does show Kalm, like 5 mins from the end. Game continues to look amazing while the voice acting continues to be absolute shithouse.

I don't think the voice acting is bad, it's just anime voice acting.

Barret is the worst offender for me though, it just sounds like the guy is putting on a voice the entire time. It never feels natural. I really wish they hadn't decided to try and make him sounds like Mr T. Or if they had at least choose someone who's voice is naturally like that.

The voice acting was definitely mixed in the first part.

Sadly that mix ranged from "meh, okay I guess" to "OMFG do you even know how language and communication works?!"

It's funny how bad voice direction can just ruin things.

Compare FF7 and 16 for example.

Square are clearly capable. It's just a shame they've gone with anime tropes in 7

The quiet/cool moments work well in 7 but almost any time something emotional is going on they feel like cartoon characters

The potential is obviously there, although I'm guessing this and 16 are pretty much separate teams?

But yeah it seems like a conscious choice to go for this style in 7 sadly
