One question, after you buy the game is there still a monthly subscription? if so how much?

There is a subscription, it's a tiered one based on how many characters you want - due to the way the class system works, you only really need 1 character as they can play any class;

I think it goes -
1 character per server with a max of 8 characters is 7.99.
8 characters per server up to 40 all together is 13.99

Even though I played the alpha for a while (and was seriously impressed), I'm still blown away by how much of an improvement the entire "feel" of the game is from the original. The UI is light years ahead, and is an utter joy to navigate. Even the small things, like clicking on an NPC and them animating *and* instantly talking... instead of the pause... server load... conversation sequence of the original. It's so full of tiny nuances which fix seemingly all of the subtler issues that really killed the original.

Anyone played the PS3 version yet? I'm curious how it holds up.

Plays really well. The ui works perfectly with a pad and ive not had any issues between this and the pc beta. Very smooth as well

Awesome. The beta does seem to run even smoother than the alpha (which was pretty smooth to begin with), so all signs are good for the retail version too.

Can't see a date on the forums at the moment, though the NDA was lifted as of June 13th by the looks of things.

Full release is also 27th August. People who previously bought FFXIV don't need to re-purchase, can just re-subscribe and download the client.

I'm loving this. Plays well on the PS3- only downside is no voice chat option.

That and that targeting needs to be sorted- it difficult to target when there's loads of Enemies around, in FATEs by the time you've targeted something it's already dead!

It opens again this weekend, from Friday 9am (iirc). It might get expanded if things are looking good, but the current plan is to test each feature for a weekend and then make any necessary improvements. This weekend was testing PS3 / PC cross-play, and next weekend is testing the 1.0 character migration.

Do we know if characters are playable on both version (and a subscription allows you to play both version if you have both) - with it linking to a SE account I hope so

Did you ever buy XIV before? If you did you don't need to purchase again.

Yeah, it's totally cross-platform in regards to accounts and saved information. One subscription, one set of characters.

So a single subscription works for both the PC and PS3 versions then?
Hm, I'll already get the PC version since I bought the old one. If I can cross-play the same characters with the PS3 version on just a single account/subscription then it's got me very tempted to hit the PS3 version as well....

So rather then playing this, I've been sat with it on playing animal crossings just listening to the music :lol:
