Glad that you enjoyed it, dude - I watched some of the live stream and it seemed like a lot of fun.

I've returned to the game over the past few days. Oh boy... I didn't know a lot about the game and now I know even less  . I enjoy playing but, to me, it's so confusing and, well, *daunting*. I've tried to get into this game for, what, five years now and I have always dropped away after a few hours, meaning that each time I restart it's really like a fresh start. But... I really want to stick with it this time. It feels like I just need to keep plugging away at it and hope that, in time, things start to click.

I resubbed yesterday and moved my character to Cerberus.

£12 and the ping is barely any better. :dread:

...I found it tough but exciting! It was great to team-up with three others and tackle the mission. I sometime found it hard to target the enemies and not friends ( ) and I made one apparent gaming faux pas (I picked up something before the enemies had all been taken care of and someone told me off!)... but we battled through and I enjoyed it :-) .

EDIT: Talking to a Free Company member, he told me that I meant "Dungeon" rather than "team battle" .

Ah! You plumped for the PC version over the PS4! Have you decided to focus on the PC version now? But, hey, it's good that cross-format play is still in place. It's a little odd how Square-Enix are not offering "upgrade" versions of the Shadowbringers expansion; we're effectively buying the whole game again.

I'm still feeling pretty hyped after returning to the game and making some progress. I'm planning on putting in a bit more time tonight.

It's nice to find that there are many decent folk in the FFXIV community. After I posted my tweet, a player replied with links to a few beginner guide vids... I shall take a look at them!

I'm still slow in the game - every time I have a task / mission I spend ages working out how to use the map and get to the right place  - but I'm starting to feel that I'm gradually improving. That feels good!

Your character looks funny as feck

I made one ages ago, but have no idea how to get an image of it without getting game time and going on the game.

I do look a bit funky, don't I? :D . I used to look kinda wizard-y... but then I discovered the "wear recommended gear" button (or whatever it's called) and I suddenly looked like that! :toot: .

I'm in a Free Company called Kitten Approved. The folk are a friendly bunch; welcoming to beginners even though most of the active players are high level. They're a LGBT-friendly group and, whilst I don't personally class myself as being in one of those communities, I like the group because they're easy going. Until you enlarge the image, the beard looks like a huge happy open mouth.

Yeah, I think my Lalafell character-with-beard combo fits my "jawa" image pretty sweet  .

I'm working towards hitting level 21 and I *think* this means that I'm close to reaching the level that allows you to ride mounts. "I'm excited!"... it'll be ace to have a cool new option for travelling!

Here's my character that I'll likely never play again, though will likely recreate on Omega.

Looking cool, Pedz! I guess your char is a magical type like mine?

It'd be neat to meet you on Omega. A good thing is that, in a soon-ish game update, there will be a capability to visit other worlds and this will enable more of us to meet :-).

If I get back to it, I'll probably start again, more so if I can get someone to play along with me. I did ask my brother in law, but I don't think he wants to drop WoW for this and doesn't want to MMO's in his life  I also asked Matt but he said FF is gooseberry fool, so. There ya go.

Yay! I completed a mission assigned by the Thaumaturges' Guild and now I've hit level 21. The mission took me ages but I got there :toot: .

Wow... this game! The more time and effort that I put into it, the more I feel that I'm enjoying it. I'm fortunate to have gotten in with a great group of people in my Free Company and that is helping as, whilst I'm relatively new to the game and know little, the other FC members are pretty much experts. This evening I completed my second dungeon with the help of a FC member and two random folk. It was a total blast, even though at times it was hectic! I then visited the FC's home house - which was amazing - and then went to a FC member's house - which was so opulent!

There are a few niggles with the game. The map is tough to get used to (I'm still trying to understand how to get to specific places and mission start points) and, on console, the control system is a little clunky. Even so, the positives far outweigh these issues; this evening I ended up reaching level 23, had a lot of fun and ended with a great new hat to wear  :toot: .

This is pretty much the only game I've been playing these past couple of weeks. In the past few days I've joined one of the Grand Companies (shout out to Twin Adders!) and I'm now slowly increasing my "company seals" currency so that I can get a mount... which will be amazing as that has been my goal in the game since I started :-) .

I'm still kinda struggling with battling (I'm getting through in my DPS role but I still don't really understand the mechanisms) and the map system still seems to be pretty obtuse... but, the more I play, the more I am drawn in and the more I am enjoying it.

Oh, and if you've ever thought that you would like to have a FF XIV-styled wedding in real life, you can now do so in Japan.

Need to actually make a character and crack on, just haven't yet. I was hoping to play one another person, as I feel like MMO's arent a solo experience. No one's interested though
