Louisoix for me.

Discovered that Grand Company quests and crafting are a great distraction from the MSQ. :dread:

Since the last AMD driver update, this game is repeatedly crashing when running, or experiencing weird glitching textures. It's the only game I've noticed it happen in, and it's a real pain in the arse.

Maybe they’ll not fix it for a while to try alleviate the server loads by culling the AMD trash

It's true, we don't deserve entertainment, only suffering.

The Endwalker expansion release has been delayed by two weeks to Tuesday 7 December.

Producer & Director, Naoki Yoshida wrote:I am incredibly sorry to share this so close to launch, but I have decided to postpone the release of Endwalker. The original release date was scheduled for Tuesday, November 23, 2021, but I have decided to delay the release by two weeks. As such, the expansion pack will now be released on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

It's worth reading the full update in that link; Yoshida really is sorry for the delay and even apologises to people who may have booked time off work for the original 23 November release date.

Yeah, I was watching the announcement live this morning. He kind of threw an exec under the bus a little, but you could tell it was really hurting Yoshi. He was talking about trying to split the different parts of the expansion up so they could release some parts on time, and some later, but he came to the decision that since it's the polish on the MSQ, and this is the end of the story arc and the big draw, releasing it later than the expansion itself wouldn't make sense.

I do feel bad for the people that need to scramble to rearrange holidays now.

On the other hand, holy Christ that launch trailer looks awesome.

BIG spoils for anybody not caught up, and it also shows scenes and locations from the upcoming expansion. So be warned.

I had the week off for other reasons, so I don’t feel as annoyed as anyone who specifically booked time off, but it’s still a shame the fortunate timing of its release is no more. Though I still have the last few Shadowbringers patches to mop up so I’m still blind on Endwalker, and therefore not especially hyped.

That’s 5.3 wrapped up, and with it, the Shadowbringers saga.

19 quests of Endwalker preamble to go then I can actually watch some of the trailers for it.

The Trust system really is great for making this a (mostly) entirely single player experience that you can enjoy at your own pace. I was originally thinking it was going to help me get through things faster while avoiding DPS queues but in reality it’s taking me about as long because I have to lead the dungeon and learn the bosses for myself. But that’s perfect. Far too much of the content that was in there I felt I was blowing past because the group wanted to do it quickly (as they were on their 100th run through it), and the AI is definitely not as bad as some of the worst players I’ve seen. So even though their routine misses some things that would avoid a wipe (like me screaming ALPHINAUD FFS I’M NOT GOING TO SURVIVE THIS ARENA WIDE ATTACK IF YOU DON’T HEAL ME) it’s much less likely to all go to gooseberry fool. It would be nice if me going down didn’t wipe the party, because I’m a DPS and it’s not usually devastating if I get KO’d vs the tank or healer, but that’s just got me more self-aware about *really* doing everything to avoid the big attacks and topping myself up with the most effective self-healing. Dare I say it, it has made me a better player.

The Trust AI does seem decent in general. Unfortunately they don't use their AoE skills on groups all that much, and Thancred will only single pull unless you specifically run out in front of him, so they do take longer. But that's a fair trade off I feel as the game is an MMO, after all. The option's nice to have for those that want it, but if it was optimal then it would defeat the point. The party chatter is a decent addition, too.

It is also fun watching how they try and normalise run times, like if a certain pull is taking too long Urianger will just go "Right, I'm done" and cast Death on enemies.

The only bit it really fell apart from me was fighting the Necromancer in the hero’s gauntlet, where they didn’t have the foresight of planning to leave the corpses far apart because they weren’t doing AoE damage until the second phase of the attack where they stop and eventually explode.

So they’d put the corpses in a little triangle in the middle of the arena, then when they go to blow up their AI tells them to go stand an equal distance between each one to mitigate the AoE, but that is now the worst possible place to stand and they get hit by all 3 and nearly die.

Final push now. I tell you what, only in this game would you be attempting to free an ancient dragon from its imprisonment with a legendary dragoon by your side only to be told you can’t because the the controls need a firmware update.

5000 people in the queue ahead of me trying to get on Cerberus coming down at a rate of about 3,500 an hour. Didn’t seem this bad at Shadowbringers launch

Had a really good bash today - pretty much all set up and scene setting
It's just a nice world to be in and hang with the characters.

I can't believe the new upgraded red mage spells. Even the basic rotation is so showy! Every other spell is half the screen :D

Well, I only got the first two quests done and now I'm too sleepy to continue so maybe tomorrow evening I guess. It is just... nice to be back in something of a normal locale. From Heavensward's cold heights, to Stormblood's barren desert wastes and Shadowbringers' ugly bizarro lands, having a place that's just nice and picturesque is like a relief.

Just made it to the level 82 Garlemald zone. I've been going for ages and I haven't even hit the second dungeon or first trial yet. I know they said this story will be significantly longer than the others, but this seems crazy so far.

I’m doing quests labelled 83.

I’ve no strawberry floating idea where the story’s going to go. It’s escalating so quick

I'm at 84 main story quests now. Really enjoying the expac so far, the story went from 0 to 100 in 3-4 levels of expac, wtf

Taking on Zodiark in a level 83 trial!

Up to 87 MSQ now. I don't think anyone guess where this was going

Timetravel!

I think I can see the story coming together.

The zones/dungeons are all brilliant and different
