A lot more adult, darker and a ton of swearing.

It's excellent so far. Only slight negative is there are only three slots of items what change GamePlay, easier dodge, auto heal etc, would be nice if these were options rather than slots as I'd like to use more at once.

I'm somewhat baffled by the lack of attention which this game seems to have. Has Final Fantasy started to lose prominence?

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

I think it's a combination of it being PS5 exclusive (For now at least), it moving towards more Action than RPG and Zelda still being a big time sink for a lot of people.

Certainly my brother in law, who was also a big FF fan (Not the No1 though) isn't getting it, though he's blaming it on having too much else to play right now.

But it has definitely had a more muted response from the community. Hopefully that changes as what I've played so far is excellent.

Finally played the demo last night, so I'm just waiting on my copy arriving in the post and I will pick it up from there.

The cut scenes in this are absolutely amazing. Huge battles of summons fighting as legions of soldiers battle beneath them.

Do you mean in general or on this board? If its the latter, Grcade has a Nintendo bias so we're all still playing Zelda! If you mean the former, maybe? I'm not sure.

About two hours in, very good so far.

Definitely a lot darker than expected. These Eikon battles are absolutely mental.

Most importantly Chris Finch from The Office voice actor is in it. Bloody good rep.

It’s strawberry floating brilliant, as expected. The combat is just magnificent.

Wow, this just keeps getting better. The boss battles are amazing and the music goes from 11 to 11,000. Shame we didn't get a stand alone movie for this as it's pure spectacle.

Story is excellent and so little had been spoilt so it's got me gripped.

Just unlocked limit break as seen in the demo.

Also I love Gav's accent.

Still early on in this but really enjoying it.

Met Cid and we're about to leave the hideout to go find this other "Eikon of Fire".

Combat has been great and while it's definitely more action focused, it's not so fast that you don't have time to think.

Gonna stop now as the PS5 has turned the room I'm in into a sauna, even with my windows open and fan on. :fp:

I’ll admit the demo has won me over. I had literally zero interest in this since hearing it was real time but having hands on experience has made me realise it’s a brilliant combat system and I’m hoping the story is more involved and interesting than FF15 which to me was incomprehensible as I never read the comics, see the films or do the necessary homework to understand it.

I’m close to pulling the trigger but I also want Diablo 4 and don’t really have time for either so not sure which to get?

The first hours felt like I was playing some Game of Thrones. So many wtf moments!! I love the realtime cutscene lore, where if you pause you can go through some background lore of stuff involved in that cutscene. Its a great addition for people in their 40s like me whose memory is playing tricks...

The battle system is great, I used the strike assistant charm at first, but decided to get rid of that as it made the combat boring (basically just press attack and dodge) I would suggest against using that charm, The evasion charm however is useful. It feels a bit on the easier side at the moment, not that FF games were usually hard, but I feel the enemies are not aggressive enough.

Watched a review of this this morning and liked the look of it. I like the context based glossary type thing - that sounds really useful for a game of this scale.

It's one I will probably pick up down the line, maybe after Zelda, Starfield etc etc.

Things have picked up and it's all kicking off, first few hours, despite feeling like an epic game were just the warm up to the proper game. Can't praise the voice acting enough, the story is so good and the main hero is likely to go down as one of FF best ever. Also the dog is the best dog in game for quite some time.

I'm doing all side quests as they appear and I'm currently level 24. Though levelling is a lot less important now as action points awarded for each battle are what's used to upgrade and unlock skills.

Can't tell you how glad I am this isn't open world. Having a focused story element seems bizarrely refeshing again.

Funny it getting slated by people for not being open world though :fp: FF noobs. Story has potential to be up there with the best.

Not too bothered about side quests not sounding the best, never are, just hope for some ultimate weapons. FF15s were excellent.

11 hours in. Got myself to level 30 and unlocked a good set of skills. Also got loads of money as tend to not buy anything for some reason.

Doing side quests as they appear, just hunted some unique monsters which was great fun.

Story is the best part of the game. It's really well told, well acted and feels like it has taken influence from TV shows and films as well as games.

Seeing this perspective quite a lot, which is basically what I'd feared from the build up :|
